He is running the show, along with plenty of prior NWA management people. Ever heard of DINO? Delta in Name Only. Don't blame everything on Delta South, as we are now all truly in this together. Good luck to all of us.
Not trying to blame anyone at all, just stating that our anger or sadness is mostly directed at management not the DAL south pilots. As pilots north and south we are just along for the ride and I close with my last statement that I hope and pray that management knows what it is doing for all of us concerned. There is no more North management although a lot of the north management is now inplace at DAL. In another post I laid the blame for freight going away squarely at the feet of NWA management in that they let it turn into an asset that was not worth keeping because of the way they ran it into the ground in the last 5-10 yrs. So hope this clears up your conclusion that I am blaming DAL SOUTH. |

I hope you're right that DALPA will have a strategy for the talks in 2012. I'd be happier if they announced their strategy to begin those talks this year so that we have a new contract ON the amendable date of our current contract. I also hope they have a strategy of preparing the membership for self help in the event that management wants to begin talks in 2012 and finish them around 2015 with a concessionary final offer. Unless DALPA has a marked change in leadership, it is clear to me that our success will greatly depend upon how nice management decides to be with us. Carl |

Excellent post. How many times have negiotaions started late and drug on forever and each day that passes is another day the company does not have to abide by a new contract. This will be interesting. I vote for starting now also.
I believe Section 6 can be opened up to a year prior to amendable date. Otherwise you're just going for mid contract improvements. I guarantee you this is going to be a drawn out process. Carl's expectations while noble are not realistic. I would love to think so.... edit: I think it may be 6 months prior, can't remember... |

I disagree with you there ACL. This is a no cost item that needs to be fixed. We should get a more even split on the pay checks. It really screws up on the with holdings, at least for me.
I like the fNWA way better. It was more of a 40/60 split. Much more manageable. I hope this is something that we can fix. I know the Council 1 guys are trying. Actually, I would have to believe that it is a cost item as the company is able to make some interest on the money being held back. Individually the cost is negligible but in aggregate I am sure it amounts to a small chunk of money. It is simply playing the "float" and frankly a good business strategy if you can get your accounts payable's to comply. It is my understanding that the 401k contributions also have a 15 day hold back (contribution made on at the end of the month however it does not show up in your account until the 15th). We lose out on that compounding interest. |
I think we haven't heard from Bar tonight because Lebowski was on Versus channel tonight!!!

When a category is new and being opened weeks are added each month spaced throughout the year so even if you convert later you still have a chance at decent weeks. The don't make all the weeks available the first month the category opens.

Oh yeah, next they will cancel the 744 displacements. :D
In reality they can only plan what is official. I see the plan changing and then changing again. Lots o fun coming our way. I wouldn't be surprised, they are keeping me on the 330 an additional 5 months from the original plan. :D |

How were the 767 bounces? :)
Ten FOs and it was a toasty 0F as we walked down the jetway at 06ish. Guess they keep the capts together and the fos together so there is no IP swapping. I went last so I did my touch and go at Rochester, MN then flew the recovery back to MSP for the full stop. The 767 lands a lot like the -300, just more nose high. Just flying it around, it wasn't that much different at all. Sat.........they filled the airplane up with gas (forget the total) but the joke was the alternate was Barcelona, so no light weight landings. The wanted to simulate a full pax load. I was on the arrival after 3 to 4 hours and 19 touch and gos when the center pumps started to flash. Forget the name of the two IPs, (one ATL one NYC) but both were great guys. Ferd PS........actually had two real good landings. |
Has anybody figured out how they calculate what our paycheck advance will be? I can't find it written anywhere! I even asked one of the chief pilots and he had no idea either. Is it some kind of complicated formula?
