Nu,
Haven't heard about this..............do tell! Denny All you have to do is read the Webboard. DALS don't think it's a big deal. DALNs do. It's going to get ugly, and my sources tell me outside council has already been retained. Nu |

Can you point me to the place where I can read about what our union signed off on?
A little disheartening to say the least...all these strawmen and righteous indignation being built up.:( I asked in an earlier post if the union supported the company going after the JAL JV. As I recall, they did. True? |

Feeling a little jet lagged so this could be rambling.
My take: Economy - USG has lost control of any potential benefit they could bring to the recovery. All they have left that might work is a tax cut, but this is not in their DNA. The fed doesn't have any more tricks up their sleeves unless they want to pay people to spend money (interest rates less than zero). In reality, with the recent finding by the supreme court that Corporations are people and can contribute significantly more to campaigns, it appears to me that "globalization" is going to be the agenda of politicians on both sides of the aisle. That is not good for you and me. JAL deal - Sit and wait for the official announcement. LM did announce he was for it, but there may be some things behind the curtain that have changed since then. I suspect the Union is scrambling a little to figure out how to deal with the new modelling for routes, who flies them and the JV structuring. DAL is now trying to date a girl who all of a sudden is playing hard to get (JAL) they dont want our money (not a ho) so they want to be in control of their destiny (hasnt worked too well for them in the past). If nothing else there might be a lesson in there for DALPA about playing a little hard to get. My personal favorite quote of the week: "If you can't make money flying a 777 out of JFK, you don't deserve to be in the airline business." Scambo |

This is really hard to understand. Any pilot needs only to go to his/her doctor and get a letter stating the medical reasons for not getting the shot. If any pilot doesn't want the shot, but is ordered to get it by DAL, said pilot will be a millionair if there is a bad reaction.
If anyone has any sway with DAL management, tell them they need to wise up. This situation is a loser for them any way you cut it. Carl I think it's probably because the DALS mentality provided much less "pushback" than the DALN side traditionally had. While DALS has some folks that don't like the current situation, the DALN side probably has a higher percentage, not to mention just about EVERYONE on the DALN side is very wary of management and managament spin from both DAL and DALPA. To hear the management rantings of SEVERAL on this very forum, including some from suspected union officials, would be unthinkable over on the North side. That'd be a free ticket to a recall election. We held our version of ALPA much more responsible to their actions, and bad things actually got people recalled and booted from committee positions. Here, DALPA seems to have free reign, immune even to resolutions and "the will of the pilot group". As for the current situation, I agree with you Carl. This is a "no win" for either side, and will probably be used as a litmus test for future issues. LM needs to understand he's not commanding a platoon of midshipmen, but a rather cantankerous set of fractious individuals who really don't care what "the mission" is, and are here for the paycheck, and not the uniform. Brother, I do not drink either. Quit many moons ago. Funny thing was when I was drinking my cholesterol was 125. After I quit in was about 175. Just plain crazy. I also lost about 15 lbs as well. Now I just have to give up pizza......
My Flight Doc laughed. I had a friend who flies with us have the same type of thing happen - he had his Dr run his - it was around 178, then the Reserves did it - 250+. He made them redo it - 180. |
