This is just the way its going to be.
I just went to her website and did a cursory look around. I checked the forums section, and there are several subjects, but NOT ONE post. Interesting.... Maybe we should flood her with the pilot perspective It's like she built a website, and nobody came.. LMAO

So if I start a website and claim to be a customer abused by an evil corporation, an airline no less, I can be quoted in the USA Today?

Sweet.

now to think of how I can be offended....

In a winter situation, this probably saves the company money. Say the flight was only going to make $500 total. (with the small margins in the airline biz, this is possible). Throw on some de-icing fluid at $4 a gallon - it doesn't take much to make a flight unprofitable.
Helicopter overhead! Could be a medivac, could be black ops, I am too ascared to peek.

I have serious doubts that consumer/citizen complaints drove the rulings that resulted in the fines for tarmac delays.

There were some airline execs who were in favor of putting all of the competition on a level playing field for canx flights in bad weather due to the companies costs and bad press. They wanted those fines, they needed those fines and I think they invented those fines! They played those passenger-rights folks like a fiddle.

I just joined her website so I could post something on her forum. Seems like she doesn't allow posting yet. Bummer. The law of unintended consequences has bitten her.

I think the hardest part would not be the loss of income, but being stripped of the title. I know that sounds silly, but being an airline pilot is all I've known.

Bottom line, let's hope there is no double dip & we are all moving up soon.
Johnson, you and I are a lot closer to each other than you may think. That is my philosophy exactly. I'll ride this horse for as long as I can and then I'll go find another horse. I don't worry about my job or money. I'm not frivolous but I'm not in a bunker either.

I'm also not as pessimistic as you think. If we continue down this path unchecked then America is either finished or it's a revolution. I tend to think that there are enough smart people in this country to stand athwart the road and yell "STOP!" This web board affords us the opportunity to exchange ideas with people we might never come in contact with otherwise. It's a free form flow of ideas. Even Super sometimes stumbles into something intelligent! If you like history at all, read Shlaes book. You will see where I'm coming from.

I flew with a 59 yr. old 320 Capt. this week who plans to retire at 60. I'm not sure why he didn't take the PERP. He's not even going to get the yellow fever shot. I guess it was worth it for him to stick around for an extra six months of pay. This is the exception rather than the rule, but I think some are realizing it's doesn't make sense to stick-around.

I've flown with numerous over 60 captains. Some of them turned 60 before the age change, went up to ANC as a SO, then came back to 320 captain after the age change. One guy was *****ing because they changed the age after he was awarded ANC SO, but before he started training. The company forced him up there until he could bid back. Needless to say, I didn't like him or respect him. It was similar to flying with a scab. Not as bad, but not much better.

I really don't think the airlines wants the Pax bill of Rights. There is no financial benefit to this - other than a lower de-ice bill.

He must be independently wealthy, as six months of pay would be around $73,000. Either than or he's a bad planner.

I suspect he's independently wealthy, if you look at the seniority list there are some senior 320As that could easily hold B744 Captain or A330 Captain. They aren't in it for the money. But most of the seniority list has to plan for retirement and has mortgage/bills to pay.
