A must have App for the iPhone is the Journey browser. It works much better with icrew and travelnet, enabling all the functions.

Also, Google App, which allows to to speak into the phone to seach the Internet. Good for fat fingerred Or lazy typers.

There are good online banking apps, and financial apps. I like bloomberg or CNBC.

GPS map is great, search on it for anything, and it puts the location on the map with a Red Pin. Traffic for driving, etc.

Accuweather and Aeroweather Apps.

HaveToEat and HaveToDrink for finding eat and bar places. I find it better than Urbanspoon.

Finally, USAToday AutoPilot which tracks your flights with all the info you need, such as gates and even your filed routing!

Then the games. ....... But you can play with that.

Hope that helps.

I'm with ya. Don't have an iphone - they're cool, but $$. If I need something from the iphone, I usually just ask my F/O, since 90% have one. I take my laptop on the road since free wireless 99% of our hotels now.

I have a Sprint plan - never had any problems. $115/mo. with 4 phones, 1500 shared minutes, anytime minutes 7PM - 7AM and weekends, unlimited texting, free Sprint to Sprint, no data. Good Boeing discount (not Delta).

We text a lot - the phones they have for that are fine - not cheap flip phones.

Since you bring this up, under subpart O (Within 12 hours), what is the deal with them activating short calls out of RAW score order?
Tried calling them out on it and was basically told they had about 17 trips to cover. Not that it's a huge deal, but it been nice if there was an actual rhyme and reason to how we get activated, or assigned short call days for that matter.

There is nowhere in the PWA that dictates how they assign trips to SC pilots. Basically they can assign it to whomever they want to.

"Normally" not "Contractually" it will go to the pilots who is closest to Whitlow without being stupid. (generally as I have seen it 15 hrs from start of SC)

I'd also think that assigning SCs has a lot to do with your time of availability (1300-0100) and what trips they need to fill.

Which here is a question and I'm on my way to look it up but if someone knows it, if you see that they've assigned you a trip prior to you starting SC and you accept it, are you still phone liable on SC if they change their mind? My guess is yes, I'd prefer no, but I'm looking it up. I know on LC you "will not be required to remain available for contact in the 12 hours prior to the scheduled report of an assigned rotation." Trying to figure out for SC.

Good news, DOT head LaHood will also be on the hotseat today right along with Toyota CEO. A weakened DOT head wouldn't be a bad thing I suppose in our slot swap fight.

Nearly a quarter of U.S. airline jobs vanished in decade, data show

06:35 AM CST on Wednesday, February 24, 2010
By TERRY MAXON / The Dallas Morning News

As the U.S. airline industry lost tens of billions of dollars over the past 10 years, it also lost a tremendous number of employees.Nearly one in every four U.S. airline jobs disappeared in the 10 years that ended Dec. 31, and the largest airlines were among the hardest hit, according to new data.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics says U.S. airlines employed 557,674 full-time and part-time workers at the end of 2009, down more than 170,000 from the end of 1999.

-So, where do you pin the blame? Computers? Internet? PBS? Elimination of 3-pilot aircraft?

How are you doing that ACL? And do you still have the search function? The pdf reader I have doesn't have a search function which is kind of big deal with that CA 09-12.

Yes, I pay $182/mo for 2 Iphones with unlimited texts and 1600 min total and the data plan. And we use the phones heavily including the camera and video and sending them off.

Maybe Im doing something wrong, but getting into the Delta stuff with the Iphone is a PITA. Yes, I use Journey, by the time I log into the "Delta net" and then go to "DBMS" and sign in it takes a few minutes.

Is there a shortcut that Im missing? Or is there a way to bookmark the log-in?

Mine does too, I've got the 3GS, not sure if that has something to do with it or not.
