Good point! Sounds like a lot of expensive training to me though ;)

The Northwest ground workers sued Delta today. Who do you think will sue us next?

It would be so do not make it a forgone conclusion. Just wait and see what happens here the next few weeks or months!

It would cost A LOT of money to furlough. There is no SOC, and the types at Compass are not cheap. The furloughs would have to be for over a year to even make sense financially, maybe even longer. I think it's probably just something that is being explored, along with other options.

I disagree and from what the management have told me, we are losing money on it. Which is why a smaller aircraft is in order.

The Shuttle Flying has already been picked up with more "mainline" flying for the MD-88. Our line counts and block hours are up. The ALV for January is 82 hours -- and it isn't even summer yet.

No *******! That's because we (DALPA through LOA) agreed to this due to the current state of SLI, hiring uncertainty, etc. If you think giving the Shuttle up to DCI isn't an issue, maybe you should look for another line of work. Why the hell would you want to give something up to DCI. I really don't think aircraft numbers are the issue. What I do know from flying the Shuttle is that we make a profit, even when practically empty! This is another example of us giving up SCOPE to DCI, one way or another. The Shuttle does need a smaller aircraft for the operation, I will agree with that. Mainline 100 seat aircraft is exactly what this operation and tons of commuter routes need. In the meantime, bring the CRJ-900 to mainline.

I think so. Prolly the greatest deterrent. If I have my job this time next year, that's likely the only reason.

Are the Shuttle E175s under the max weight limit in the new contract. I thought the only E175s allowed were the Compass one's grandfathered in.:confused:

I'm not arguing with you. I don't want to see my job replaced to an RJ. However, since being on the Shuttle, I've consistently heard they are in the red. And, exactly how many seats does it take to turn a profit? I'd like to know the number. I've asked multiple sources, and nobody knows.

Just looking at the cost of the fuel burned and cost of crew, I can say that we have lost money on most of my shuttle flights.

Amen to that. I would really like to see all the CRJ900 brought into mainline flying. I agree with your assessment for 100 seat aircraft being the key. At the DAL/NWA joint conference, both DAL and NWA reps have stated that they are looking for a fuel efficient 100 seat replacements for DC9s and MD88s. They said they are not yet available at a reasonable price so they are using the DC9s and MD88s and augment the flight ops with CRJ900s and E-175s. Both CRJ900s and E-175s should all be flying at the mainline.
