If they don't come back this time around, what are their options? I know it was a 10-year bypass option, but I think they can extend more than that can't they?

I think the last inquiry showed about half of the bypass guys showed interest in coming back. Many guys have moved on. Heck, with the SLI some guys who went to CAL when they started hiring off the street have better seniority there then at the new DAL.

I think many are long gone.

It's not really that tough to get between the AA/B6 terminals. I'm sure with this deal they will work out a people mover bus that will stay inside security which will make it even easier. I always though UAL would go after them especially when they struck up the deal with Lufthansy. I wonder if the Gov will still force us to give JBLU slots in DCA since they are now getting slots from AMR? I think everyone should give the slots to Spirit.

Easier than a Golden Touch bus from LGA-JFK. At least the pax connect on the same airport grounds.

I think DAL has an idea how many guys will come back and it's probably not that many, otherwise, they wouldn't be talking about hiring. We have been accepting apps. for a few months now. :)

As a bypass-ee, I have heard there are only 120-150 bypass pilots that have shown interest.

I know a few who are at SWA, Jblue, Fedex, CAL..

I for one am MR. MOM. My sugah momma is sick of me and has threatened to "boot" me out if Delta doesnt call. SO PLEASE HURRY WITH THE RECALLS!

Anecdote warning. FNW friend is on bypass and if recalled will come back and take mil leave for as long as he can to get to 20. He's got a few years to go.

I don't think that's the problem. Air France has sold 777F delivery positions and 3 aircraft that were sitting in the desert to FedEx.

Box cargo is even more dependent on cyclical economics than passengers.

The difference is the margins. Box cargo has a better one than passenger service does.

10yrsgone??? Heard anthing yet?

Sounds quite familiar

The need to have "new hire" classes for bypass guys to return. That said, I believe you will see flows and bypass guys for a few months and then off the street. Look for less robust hiring than last time with a build up towards that. Numbers going in to later 2011 are mo betta.
That said, the numbers vary from 50-150 that will take recall. Add that to the flows and I would expect off the street sometime later this year to a latest point in the Jan-March timeframe of next year.

There were a number of those last time... I can imagine the same trend will follow this round.

It is their right and I they should do it if they so choose.

I haven't heard squat for what it's worth.

and on another note, approaching the point of no return has changed some minds. 3 years ago, I was never coming back. With the last chance (possibly) approaching, I have a different outlook.

With regards to the the question from the guy with Villapoto on his avatar (or was is Stroupe, both 51?) anyhoo, 10 years, you have the option to bypass, the extra 4 years added on from the merger are not an option. When they call, you accept or resign.
