At NWA, we insisted on 5-day trips - lots of 'em. The southern section will come to appreciate them as more guys are forced into commuting.

Here's to glass half full. |
I know I will probably get nailed for this but here goes:
You ever notice that we constantly get schooled on how ALPA cannot focus on small little issues that do not effect the whole group and that we need to see the big picture and work on issues that have the potential to impact us all? Well as far as I am concerned, commuting falls in to the ALL category. That IMO is worth fixing and worth ALPA's effort! (Sorry PG :D ) |
Guys, let’s put it into perspective:
1) PBS=Pay Cut 2) Vacation Bank=Pay Cut 3) Less Credit Time=Pay Cut 4) Loss of Pensions=Pay Cut 5) Reduction in Benefits=Pay Cut 6) Pay Cut=Pay Cut 7) Inflation=Pay Cut 8) Excessive Green Slips=Pay Cut (Yes that’s correct) 9) Excessive Inverse Assignments=Pay Cut (Limited) 10) (Insert more here)=Pay Cut Anyone see a pattern developing here? Just wondering. As a side note: Guys, as far as complaining about rotations, you might as well be whizzin in the wind. Until most of the aircraft/pilots are relocated, and bases are mostly figured out, even the scheduling computer might as well be whizzin in the wind. It’s going to be upside down for years to come. Welcome to the largest airline in the world. :) |

Sailing,
I respect your post however I do not like the tone of acceptance of lower credit times. What is the problem with trying to produce rotations with higher credit time vs rotations with lower credit time? To me, the company has xxxxxxxxhours to fly every month, and as long as xxxxxxflying is done who cares if we do it in 14 days vs 18 days a month per pilot. This in my opinion is something that needs to change for the good of the entire pilot group. Pilots doing their flying for the month in fewer days is a win win for everyone in that the company has a happier employee and the pilot is happier in that he has more time at home with the same pay. It also frees up more off days for pick up of open trips as well. It seems as if it is all for one(dal) and none for all(the pilots) in this regard. I think we need to shift gears on the software!!!!!!!!!!!!:D As a simply example. You could have a turn from DTW to SAN. Lets say its worth 7:50. A pilot living in DTW would love this trip. The company builds it as a turn. Everyone is happy right? Well not exactly. When you build high time turns you always impact other trips. In order to build high time 3 or 4 day trips you almost always need to get at least a couple of long legs into the rotations. If your long legs are all on turns your longer trips suffer. Again as I mentioned the company is actually pretty responsive for suggestions in rotation improvements. If however they have more credit time in the rotations its going to be a hard sell. Again I am talking credit only not the total rotation value. |
