I was told two 90's and two 175's a day from DFW to LGA when they start the service. That was stated about a year ago.

Isn't there like 12 extra gates at Love Field that nobody is allowed to use? 20 other gates can be used but not all 32. Of the 20, 16 are for SWA, 2 for AMR, 2 for CAL.

If that is right, I say we sue. Tell AMR give us those 2 gates and we will pull out of DFW as long as we get 14 gates at Love.

Now, tv time.

I would hardly call an extra 2 MAINLINE flights a day out of DFW anything worth mentioning. This is nothing personal, but I kind of get the impression from your posts that we may open a DFW base. My personal opinion is that will never happen. I do however think MEM and CVG will be closed as bases.

Yes that is correct, NWA ordered 100 seaters for us in the late 1960s.

That sucks.

Speaking of being denied jumpseats, I ran to a CAL cockpit one time trying to get a jumpseat home or to work, I honestly can't remember, I just know I was happy to have made it on time. At the time I had been at Coex for a few months or a year, I can't remember, it was before 9/11 for sure. But I asked for the jumpseat, kind as ever, and the Captain wouldn't look at me. He wanted to know if I had voted for IACP (Continental's union) or ALPA before he'd let me on, problem was I was on probation and not allowed to vote. I explained that, he said who would you have voted for. The FO gave me a signal to say no, so I did, he let me on. I didn't know much about unions, scabs or strikes back then but I learned, it'd be fun to run into that situation now.

What an *******, but he's probably like IAH LEC rep or something now, thats how those guys work.

Super good story. I for one really appreciate stories like this. Why? Because it tells a story and conveys a message.

Thanks Check. Just wondering.

It was an interesting time in Delta history.
The beginning of the end of the "Delta family". Something called Leadership 7.5 had been going on (brutal cost-cutting to make up for Allen's colossal PanAm blunder).
Another real piece of work named Harry Alger running Flight Ops.
Incompetence and personal vendettas everywhere. The jumpseat was just a pawn in the larger game.

To TRY and be more clear...(WOXOF is normal for me:D), the company puts more emphasis on being rested for a sim than for a real flight...and pays for it. Why not pay for the real one? Just wondering...

If memory serves, DALPA got the jumpseat with POS '96. (Fecal Fragment, Contract '96). LOTS given...pay, Sunshine/Express...tokens received. Some did well, especially the pre-'72 pilots...sweetheart deal related to their retirements. Additionally, BIG BID was to solve all our/pilots' problems. Didn't quite work out that way. (Two of the three negotiators were SENIOR, and not long for DAL.)

And as Check said above, it was personal for "So Be It" ra.

Regarding the 744 compensation airframes:

Bastian said at a In Command meeting that Boeing has made a $200M cash payment to Delta for 787 deficiencies/delays. I'm sorry but the more 744s rumor is not true. We will not see more of those airframes, ever. Fuel is going back up and it burns 2x a 777 and about 3x what a 787 does. The company is deathy afraid oil is gonna hit $140/bbl again.

ANY mainline DFW--> NYC would be HUGE for us doing this commute. Currently there's one rj per day. A mainline jet has more capability, capacity and reliability...not so much for the rj.

Tried to include the picture, but can't seem to get the hang of it. Could ACL Super or FTB pm with help.

Great picture and high res too. After seeing that photo, does anyone question Boeing's structural integrity testing? Does anyone wonder about the Frog's aircraft testing? I'm just wondering. I believe the Bolivian AF A330 crash was a structural failure. I believe they flew into "extreme turbulence" which caused a catastrophic failure. I believe they probably lost their rudder and vertical stab first followed by other components. The vertical fin seems to be the Airbus' achilles heel. Rudder input pressure inputs are a big issue with this aircraft. Although Airbus leads the industry in advancements and innovation, it comes with a cost. Anyone remember how many F-16's became lawn darts before they became a formidable foe?
