How much do you want to bet that 90% of the opposite pre-merger group could not even name those individuals? What did this guy do that has made him so famous and hated that he is referred to as a Nazi? Did he really murder people? So I apologize for the "petty personal fiefdom" remark that was probably over the top, like much webboard chatter is. You say my using "north" and "south" is divisive and yet you defend the demand that the negotiating committee be divided amongst "north" and "south". You say you are trying to work and act like we are one pilot group and yet you defend the people who are working the most to generate divides. You on the other hand are seizing on common misconceptions about the pre-merger NWA pilot group to paint all the Reps and the pre-merger MEC with broad, self serving strokes in order to drive a wedge between bridges that are being and have been built. You don't like the fact that MEC is changing, and that the two pre-merger groups are doing their own MEC melting pot that has the result of certain individuals no longer having the same control over the Reps that he used to. You can't have it both ways. If we are one pilot group, then there should be no labels on who came from where. If we are one pilot group then union leaders should quit trying to draw dividing lines. Right now I only see that from one group. Both the MEC and pilot group are going to evolve into something different than either group was before, and hopefully we draw on each others strengths to become a more effective, unified group. The impression I get is we are definitely in the midst of that process. I felt your original post was a deliberate effort to divide in order to cling to old ways and lines of control. Perhaps it would be more constructive to expedite the melting pot? |

Sort of like DAL AFA organizers....:p
supporting a union that raided another union while it was in negotiations inside bankruptcy.... supporting a union that ensured labor no longer has the right to strike after contract rejection through 1113. You just never know anymore... None of your/our business. |

Buzz,
luv ya back man, but you've gotta quit sushing us like we're some crazy old aunt up in the attic. We are somewhere like 45% of YOUR pilot group and won't be ignored Please, get you're fingers outta your ears.....we really do want to help. Ferd So you contend that Nu's attitude is representative of ALL fNWA pilots? If that is true, we really are in deep doo doo. |

Super, there is a cost associated with everybody's wish list. 75 hr guarantee is great for the 20% of the pilots on reserve,7% pay raise ! How about the 80% not on reserve ? Unless you are bottom of the seniority list reserve is a choice.I personally don't think it's fair to give a reserve 777 Capt 7% more to sit at home while I have to bust my but to get those same 75 hours. Do I think we should improve the reserve system ?, yes I do but I don't think any small portion of the company should get a windfall. Pay raises help everybody.
Sermon to follow; In my 30 plus years at the big D I have learned one very important fact of life.If you want to have QOL and good pay stay senior in category, all the good deals go to those senior in their category. Case in point, pre BK i made a lot of money flying 76ER Capt but I had 2 buds in my class make way more and have a better QOL as MD-!! FO's ! Super, I like your posts, you have the right idea. |

Do all pmDs think, like you seem to, that all good ideas came from Delta Air Lines or DALPA and we have nothing to offer? Then, yes I think we are in deep doo doo. I think you missed the part where where I said we want to help. Have a nice life |

Improve pay for reserves, I can go for that but not a 7% pay raise that only goes to 20% of the pilots. As stated before a sliding scale 5 hrs below the alv (not less than 70) would give most everybody on reserve a pay raise right now and be restoration of what we once had. We all want the same thing, just how do we allot it.
Is there a downside to a sliding reserve pay? I'm tired and can't think of any off hand but if a sliding scale can be vetted and still works then I'm all for it. |
Any one seeing the rising steam, or is that just my monitor going out again?

Sadly I've started to find that the contract is like a game of drunk jenga, you go in there and pull a block thinking it won't hurt anything and the whole thing topples down. Such as; "hey if you don't need that vacation then sell it and make some extra money..." and then people are furloughed.
