Delta's training sounds like a joke. It reminds me of my former regional. It's a shame that it wasn't scrapped completely in favor of NWA's.

yeah yeah.. like everything else...

It sounds like the philosophy between NWA and Delta is fairly similar. NWA got rid of memory items completely. We had a red-bordered checklist in front of us for critical items. It was assumed that common sense items like putting on the oxygen mask with smoke in the cockpit would be done. This item was on the red bordered checklist anyway though. As far as limitations went, we were not required to recite them verbatim, but we were expected to not break any limitations in the sim. This required knowing the limitations, but took the stress off of us caused by flat out memorizing them. We showed up to the first day of systems class cold. No prior studying required. It was kind of nice. I'm going to miss that when I'm studying full-time for two weeks prior to going to class. It's going to be frustrating flying one aircraft while studying for another.

Delta had once done away with all memory items on the 757/767 which was half the fleet. I don't know about the other aircraft types. Sadly a new FAA principle inspector took over and did not like that so we were forced to put memory items back in the program. What the FAA wants and requires varies from region to region. Often the airline has no choice.

Well, maybe Tsquare, Beer, Shiznit, LeinLodge and friends will enjoy this with me:

The University of Southern California will return the Heisman Trophy won by former star tailback Reggie Bush in 2005, incoming university president C.L. Max Nikias announced Tuesday. USC will return Bush's trophy to the Heisman Trophy Trust next month and will take down any jerseys or murals recognizing the former star.

Is that not a recognition of guilt?

Oh wait, thats thread drift, so to drift back I recommend on the MSY overnights to walk 200' to Hobnobbers on Wednesdays for $7.25 ribs. Hole in the wall by Domino's, lots of food, lots of locals which is a good sign.

They kept showing the 747's turning on short final, landing to the runway in Hong Kong. Even the incident where the one went off the end, into the water. All I could think about is, "I wonder if that's Carl"? ;)

Or, maybe what I was thinking about was, "I wonder if that's Carl, on short final, thinking up a response to FTB, Sailing, TSquare, Alfaromeo, Super, & Johnso, and all other APC-ers"? :D

(Lying on the long leather couch now, talking to the Doc, wondering if I spend too much time on APC.)

I actually landed at Hong Kong in a C-141 two days after the 747 went off the end. It was still there and a really good training tool for us the next time we flew "the curve." Really fun thing to do in VFR, not so much when the WX went down.

Scoop, Rocky Boy thanks for the answer on sick and gs trigger.

DALPA contract guy is solo this week and is about a day behind on returning calls.

Sadly, it was faster to get an answer on APC...

Definitely had the "pleasure" of doing that a number of times. I don't care who you were, but after landing - your pulse was way up there. Great fun.

As far as thinking up responses, maybe I should try that thinking part. :D
