Cause they are too damn long for their own good!

Heyas,

I could always tell it was a DC-9-10 when I cracked my head on the trailing edge when peeking up into the nacelle. Those things were >SHORT<

Same reason they added the 3rd set of tabs (anti-float tab) to the elevators...this.

Isn't that where you roll in on a train and fire machine guns at it? Oh, wait... that's strafe...

Very funny Carl.

I'd be very surprised if the company didn't require a full course to go from the -9 to the -88. When DL had -9s it was a full course. The airplanes really don't have much in common, from a pilot perspective, at all.

The systems are identical - it is a DC9-88/90. Certainly differences on FMS, autoflight, and procedures, but a FULL course - don't think so. Even if it is the case I'll bid left seat on it the first opportunity I get as it is already junior to me now. I wonder if the MD88 pilots who get bumped will take the DC9 left seat?

(note - they can't get your goat if they don't know where it's tied up :))

Nice flame but I don't see any -88 guys getting bumped by you. I love it when you guys talk about bumping DL guys out of their aircraft. I've never once heard a DL guy talking about bumping a NW guy out of his. Says something about the merger, huh? I know you guys can't stop taking any post about the -9 personnally but I wasn't making any comment on the aircraft although the fact that you can't wait to get to the -88 does. I've got more hours in the -9 and -88 than I care to remember and have been able to hold -88A for years and have resisted the urge (not too hard to do). I'm positive I won't be taking the -9 left seat no matter where it goes.

Systems? Yes the systems are almost the same but who cares about systems anymore? We get very little information on the systems compared to the way it used to be. Flying-wise the -9 and the -88 are almost completely different aircraft. Delta operated both aircraft side by side for years and the upgrade to the -88 required the full course. In my opinion that's the correct way to go.

Where was that post by a NW guy saying DL guys are too worried about being bumped by the NW guys who, in reality, DONT WANT to fly the DL airplanes?
