Just as soon as I find out what a strake is. :D Carl |
Heyas,
I could always tell it was a DC-9-10 when I cracked my head on the trailing edge when peeking up into the nacelle. Those things were >SHORT< Nu |

I'd be very surprised if the company didn't require a full course to go from the -9 to the -88. When DL had -9s it was a full course. The airplanes really don't have much in common, from a pilot perspective, at all.
(note - they can't get your goat if they don't know where it's tied up :)) |

The systems are identical - it is a DC9-88/90. Certainly differences on FMS, autoflight, and procedures, but a FULL course - don't think so. Even if it is the case I'll bid left seat on it the first opportunity I get as it is already junior to me now. I wonder if the MD88 pilots who get bumped will take the DC9 left seat?
(note - they can't get your goat if they don't know where it's tied up :)) Systems? Yes the systems are almost the same but who cares about systems anymore? We get very little information on the systems compared to the way it used to be. Flying-wise the -9 and the -88 are almost completely different aircraft. Delta operated both aircraft side by side for years and the upgrade to the -88 required the full course. In my opinion that's the correct way to go. |
