It seems to me that talking about bidding the "other guys" bases and/or equipment is not very productive. If you are going to do it for whatever reason, just do it. I think we will all know who did what when we see NWA guys commuting to ATL or LAX and DAL guys flying the A-330. But, to broadcast your intentions at this sensitive time, IMHO only leads to divisive discussion. Which, to me, is getting pretty old.
... And is newtodal really new or someone trying to cause trouble? I don't buy all of these NWA pilots wanting to go to DAL bases ASAP. It was a massive fear on the DAL side and the reason why some categories suddenly went senior that were once junior on the last real AE in early 08. However, looking at the NWA seniority list I find it somewhat unfounded. I do not believe the 9 is staffed by frustrated pilots hoping and praying that after 10 years they might hold the 320. I see the 320 as far south as March 2008 and 757 as far south as September 2007. Our most junior DAL 767 pilot is Nov 07 (I believe) and 7ER is January 08 and both are about to start seeing MDs. And why if 80% of NWA is commuting would you run to chase bigger planes? We have 340 pilots on the 88 B in ATL senior to the most junior 7ER pilot, why? QOL. Same as the 9 from what I can tell on the NWA side. Commuters chase seniority/QOL most of the time. To me movement will be mostly from pilots wanting better commutes, not bigger and better planes and that movement will be minimal if a) its even allowed and b) if there are even spots open. |

But what you "proposed" is meaningless in an arbitrated decision. The arbitrators can craft almost any solution, so in the endgame of any arbitration, you do a risk assessment and ask yourself "Is what I risk losing in arbitration worse than the other sides final offer?"
At some point, the DAL Merger Team decided that they were OK with minimal fences. They figured the long term benefit outweighted the short term chaos. Nu |

I think there's a pretty good chance that "newtodal" is one of the usual suspects on this board with a new lD just trying to stir things up. "I talked to 75 FO's?" Yeah, right... I haven't worked in a while, been out on mil, but when I was a working commuter I almost never had occasion to talk at any length to other FO's other than the couple of guys I'd bump into in the crash pad. All I had time to do was check-in, run to the gate and then run for a commute flight at the end. What is this guy supposedly doing...conducting a survey?

They give you guys new printers yet up there? And an exhaust fan for the bathrooms by the computers?
In the summer that got rough when someone decided to [insert one liner] and all you had was that big fan blowing air into the room, not out. ... Former NYC crewroom sleeper. |

As long as you can hold a line, and you're commuting anyway, most are going to go for the dollars, especially now with the real or percieved loss of income down the road. Nu |
