Problem is for us is there is a huge reduction in manning. IE loss of more pilot jobs, so be careful what you wish for.
|
Not wishing for it, just seeing the writing on the wall. I want more categories and hiring, not a prolonged period of non or minimal hiring even with NWA being "short". :(
Just thinking with all of the former Continental folks in who were amazed by our use of widebodies on domestic segments are probably also amazed by how the 767 fleet was split up compared to CAL's 756 category being 752, 762, & 764, domestic and international. If they start moving in that direction than we'd really get hurt. |
Heyas,
Guys, you are seeing the first wave of "NWA thinking" with regards to staffing. They will dial back staffing until you physically cannot run the airline, and then move it up a HAIR. They will liberally offer OT, knowing that there are ALWAYS guys that will fly it, and it's cheaper than paying for another warm body. It's no surprise at all the domestic/ER split would be the first to go. NWA 757 guys can fly to Asia/Europe on one trip, then do the MSP-LAS shuttle on the next. "AVOID DOMESTIC" or "AVOID INTERNATIONAL" are bid commands everyone needs to get familiar with. Say hello to the new revolution... Nu |
So overall this AE is BAD because guys will get displaced from where they want to be:(, but GOOD because we continue to avoid furloughs:)
Does that about sum it up? My head is spinning. |

Seriously though, are they trying to get all 767 categories to become ER? And not just one day but like, asap, pre SOC? I could see how they'd love to make SLC an ER category as well which combined with LAX going to ER would help cover all of the Hawaii/Asia 767 flying without opening a SEA base.
I mean from a company standpoint I could see how this is just one of those "inefficiencies" they'd want to iron out pre SOC. It hurts our staffing levels, but, thats not their concern. |

Spoke to a reliable source who said the lower cost disparity with not having implemented trip-rig for NWA absolutely is related to staffing reductions at DAL.
There's not even anything that says that during the transition, that one certificate has to hire from the other. You could have guys flowing down to Compass from one ticket, and Compass guys flowing up to the other. Yikes:eek:...fasten your seat belts. Nu |

This AE has nothing to do with "NWA thinking". Delta simply had pilots on the wrong equipment.
