I am sure that some day it will be. I am sure by the time the youngster in this industry get to retirement, it will be base on ability and a battery of medical test. Age may be out of the picture. This is both good and bad.

Great! Senior airplane cockpits will be like retirement homes

Nope, I am currently flying the aircraft..... We do a lot of 3 day trips that are turns to NRT, KIX, NGO. These trips are worth 25-27 hours each. You leave in the afternoon on day 1 fly to Asia spend the night and fly back. Time away from base is around 45 hours so you are only gone 2 nights. Do 3 of these a month and you are done! These are the senior trips.....

I'm in the 742 and maybe it's me but I don't think of "gone two nights" as a two day trip.

Go pull a 744 bid package and take a look. These trips are patterned 3 day trips but the time away from base is 45-48 hours and only 2 nights (which is what I said above). You leave in the afternoon say on Monday and return around noon on Wed. Depending upon where you live most commute in same day of the trip and home the same day when back in base. These trips are worth between 25:00-26:10 each. Do 3 of these a month and you are done.....

Yeah I think I will be fat and gray by the time I see a schedule like that!

This is one of the reasons the top 4 FO's on the list all have seniority numbers below 200!

Just read where DAL is going to go with an ASAP program that mirrors the FNWA version. This is a great program and I am glad to see it make its way onto the DAL property...... Now if we can just work on the "call in honest" program.

No kidding.

Average medical health of a particular group at a particular age is neither of these. The bottom line is that the government can discriminate, they just have to have a good reason to do it. Think air traffic controllers, at 56 they are out-- with a pension .

New K Now

Au contraire mon frere! The agency charged with maintaining safety of the nations airways, the FAA, sets minimum standards of medical and professional qualifications. It will be argued that if a 66 or 69 or 70 year old can maintain a first class medical and pass his checkrides then any age limit is arbrirary and capricious.

You mean back onto the DAL property. We had ASAP. DALPA withdrew because the company decided they could and would use the information for disiplinary action if they saw fit to. Not quite the intent of the program to self-incriminate. We also already have a "call in honest" policy that is contractual, not at the company's pleasure. Although, that said, it could stand to be improved.
