For you Delta A330 guys. My wife and I are Non-Rev MSP-HNL. Does that flight ever have a weigh issue. First time on a 330.

It would be very nice to have real time lowering AND highering of the RAW score instead of waiting around for the stupid PCS runs. I also want the ability to see the reserve availability list for the entire month, not just two days worth. It would be kinda nice to know where you may sit on the list at the end of your stretch of reserve days.

As a guy who is "a fairly senior reservist" if there is such a thing, I would also hope that the next contract shows raw score credit for short calls. I have about the highest in my category as we speak and just sat back-to-back SC's as well. Not complaining, but since we're on the hook to fly, I'd like more credit than just we "only" have to sit 6 a month. Short call should directly increase the raw score, if in fact the raw score is what the schedulers use to assign trips. Someone who sits long call and doesn't do anything has the same raw as a guy coming off of SC.

That being said, I have had only one or two issues with our crew scheduling over a lifetime. With one exception, I've called at the two hour prior window and have been released from SC. The one exception? Unfortunately this past New Year's Eve when I called at 2300 and wanted a three hour early release so as to pop some shampoo with my wife. Shot down and told to stay on SC until my call ended. Wife went to bed. I was not happy.:D

BTW, the December 1, 2009 Scheduling Alert from the MEC Scheduling Committee goes over Reserve Utilization Order and it shows the TC report scheduling runs prior to assigning trips to reserve and goes over how its used. Very informative. Look it up on deltapilots.org under library, scheduling committee, scheduling alert. Or be lazy like me and ask the forums and hope someone like unclesam answers. :D

I did see that it says there was a time where you could reduce your raw only for a specific trip but that is no longer the case. You really are lowering your raw and jumping into the pot. It also says this is done by hand by scheduling and thus lower and raising your raw as you see your trip fly out the window would do nothing for you. Bummer.

But: Once the computer has identified the pilots who will fly, say 5 trips open then it identifies the 5 that will fly by their RAW score, then RAW score is no longer referenced and their preferences are considered in seniority order.

FTB, Thanks for opening this topic--good stuff.

You'll like this one: Last week I wanted a 4 day trip that started on my first day off reserve so I put in a YS for it and lowered my raw score in attempt to get it. Scheduling gave it to someone else, and I wasn't assigned anything. I forgot to take my reduced raw score out of the system and later that same night (still on an X day), at around 2030 I got a call from the scheduler who said something like, "Understand you were looking for a yellow slip, well I have a trip for you." I said well as long as it's commutable (too late to get to an early show at that point). He told me it had a sign in at 0930, and I said, OK sounds good.

I walked away with a lesson learned, one I'm still learning, and a new question:
1. Remove your "reduce raw score" once it no longer serves a purpose you desire.
2. Don't answer the phone; listen to the message instead.
3. Was he asking? Since I answered I don't think he had to, but dude, at that point it's a little late.

Wow. I wish I could get some consistent answers. I've been told by multiple people that SC is & isn't duty.

SC is not duty. Period. It is also not rest. Period.

What that means is that you need a rest break on look back. Domestic only as Sir Whitlow is the only reason any of this matters. Get rid of that and SC is no longer not rest and would not be duty. :D

Yup - at least for the 88 they are. I just brought my own headset, some paper and a pen. Still need to bring the required paperwork stuff though.

I've never had a weight issue on that leg. Generally speaking the only time a 330 will have a weight issue going to Hawaii will be in winter departing ATL.
