I heard that at the roadshows they said by the end of 2010 there would be 900 guys over Age 60, and by the end of 2011 there would be 1300. A moving target for the staffing to figure out. Good Luck to them. :p
Also, they are working on their 2011 budget and the need to hire more pilots in 2011. TYG |

No, no, no. We are reminiscing on old commuter days. I fly the 320, and we meet the stabilized approach criteria quite well as a fleet. They usually always restrict us to 180 KIAS by LOC intercept anyway so it's no prob to meet them. :)

If you look at the number of guys who retire in any given year, assuming age 60, you had about %150 of the normal retirements actually retire. Some were, to be sure, early retirement for guys who married rich, hit the lotto, became rock stars, whatever, but by and large, that number was driven by people who went out on disability or medicaled out. The number of people who are financially able to retire early has probably gone down, but as we press on, the overall number will probably increase due to medical issues. Some fNW guys also have very large sick banks due to the "top off" carry over. That is going to be the great unknown, especially as we get closer to year 4. There was a lot of actuarial data for age 60. Not so for 65. The people who work the staffing are flying blind at this point. Nu |

Are you deviating on the front end? The computer knows when you are supposed to show up for work and sometimes gets confused if you use a front end deviation. Try switching the booking to "personal" or call the CPSC-they can override the system.

As a South guy in a North fleet (320) I find it just a little more conservative on the stabilized windows here. Not wasteful, just a little more conservative, which I like. It's a good fleet.
I will sometimes cheat on speeds. If they assign 210 KIAS, and we are a heavy 320 I may just fly green dot even if its 215 or 220. This way I don't have to put the slats out too early. |
Out of Base WS
Are out base WS's assigned after reserves?
