We go to Punta Cana a lot for beach type trips.
Best bang for the buck in the Caribbean. Very affordable now but gets expensive in the high season (right after Christmas).
The wife loves the beach at RIU because they maintain lots of palm trees right near the water. She's blonde and can't do the "all day on the beach" thing without shade. She loves laying under those trees, sipping foo-foo drinks and reading her trashy novels.
RIU Palace is our favorite resort there. Very "elegant" and has the best resaturants. (Riu Palace Macao is good too) Right next door on either side of the RIU complex is two other good ones. Iberostar and Bahia Principe.

I took the brief post down. The info is way to specific. Repost with less info, and no personal names. Cut the corporate accounts out etc. That stuff does not need to be on these boards.

Another reserve question.

Is our time on short call considered duty?

For example, if I'm on short call 900am - 900pm (eastern) and I get assigned a trip at 500pm for a flight to SMF leaving at 7:25 (eastern) that gets in at 9:20 (pacific time), do I have to accept? This would be on for over 15 hours.

I know the contract is max scheduled of 13 hours and can be extended by 2 hours (15 total).

I've always been unsure of this and wonder what others do. Thanks again.

Anybody know if you can see the price of 'Fly Confirmed for less' tickets before they charge ya?

YES! The prices vary wildly though, so try a few to get the best deal. I did this for my wife a few months ago to LGA roundtrip (leave fri afternoon, return sunday night) for less than $200. Several of the other tickets quoted actually ended up being more expensive than if I bought a ticket from travelocity, orbitz, etc. You just can't beat not worrying about flight loads though. It's worth the money just to know you're going (and more importantly coming back on schedule.)

Good deals to be had, but you definitely need to shop around. You can go 90% of the way through the booking process and see the price before you have to pull the trigger. Have fun on the vacation! I'm jealous. I'll be up all night with a newborn about the time you're sipping cocktails on the beach. :p

If you want, go though it take out the names as I had started to do, and then sanitize the other stuff. It is just a little too specific. I started and realized that frankly, there is some stuff that in there that would probably change the level of info they give at these meeting.

They are awesome notes, and great for ppl to read, but just a little too good. The DALPA board may be a good place for it since it will be DAL pilots only that are seeing it.

0050-0900 = 1550 so yes you are legal. 16 hrs of non-rest.

AKA SC is not duty but it is not rest. You will need to watch your Whitlow on taxi out. You literally have 10 mins to play with.

You're confusing FAR duty day with contractual duty day.

If you went on short call at 9am eastern, they can use you until 1 am. (Whitlow)

Your contractual duty day doesn't start until you report for the trip.

Your credibility is in question here. I think Pineapple will give you a pass for the broken legs, but I WANT SOME MILF PICS FROM YOUR HOOD...NOW!
