I'm guessing A330 or 744.
Schedulers are getting lazy....but good on the dude. Hope he was a REG pilot and not RSV...He'd make over 130 hrs of pay no credit:) |

67 hour? That would be a 9 or 10 day trip? Why didn't the all mighty DAL just split that rotation to a 5 day or so, and put the remainder in open time, hoping someone would pick it up WS?

Plus they now have the trip taken care of don't have to worry about some of it later. I would guess that, usually, GS trips this long go out on GS's to reserve pilots that have a blanket GS in for the month. If he was a REG pilot I think he'd have a hard time meeting the GS trigger. OK, folks, I apologize if this isn't the right place, but it seems close. My topic searches only came up with a couple "Why DAL vs. XXXX airlines?" threads. A few questions for those who fly for/have flown for DAL, and particularly those who had other offers: Why did you chose Delta? Now that you've flown with them for a year or thirty, did those reasons pan out, and would you do the same again? Hypothetically, say you had offers from DAL and other airlines/cargo lines, what would be the pros and cons to your consideration of DAL? Thanks a ton, Wuzzo I slipped through the cracks. I think I've posted enough on this thread to prove it. :D Read on if you want to see how I pulled it off... I went to college in the shadows of Delta and while I liked Delta truth be told I never wanted to become an airline pilot as my goal was to go corporate. Anyways, plans fell through in my senior year in school and so I applied to Continental Express where a lot of my friends were and I went straight there. I was as green to the airline industry as one could be. About a month after completing OE at Coex I was downstairs in the dungeons of terminal D trying to get a JS from ATL to IAH. I was denied on 5 flights, in that time I had two CAL pilots personally insult me for trying to JS on CAL the dispatch guy behind the desk couldn’t have been uglier, gate agents more unfriendly. This was par for the course as the years went by and I’ve got the stories to prove it. But finally one of the CAL pilots showed some mercy on me and suggested I just go over to Delta. I did. I cannot tell you how different it was, the gate agent called me “sir” and “first officer”, the JS was taken but the Delta pilot who had it gave it up and took a seat in the back, when the Captain found out I had never JS’d on Delta before he plopped me down in the MD88 js and off we went. I never forgot the professionalism of that crew and never really had to because for years I shunned my own airline to commute on Delta and the experience was always, always, always the same with every DAL employee I met. After almost six years of life at Coex and under Continental, I quit the airlines and went corporate. I couldn’t stand working for an airline that hated people so much and it was about the time Delta had entered chapter 11 and the prospects of it hiring much less hiring a nobody like me was just too much to stand. Besides, I’d walk into the cockpit of a DAL 757 and both pilots would immediately tell me “quit, go get a real job” even before I said my name. I think that made me as depressed as they were. Anyways I got a great corporate job, I was in charge of more stuff than someone at my age should’ve been and I was making decent money and a pretty fancy resume. When hiring started at Delta in 07 I was torn but by summer I couldn’t rationalize not applying anymore and I never ever looked back. Sure I wish I had applied earlier but I also had to accomplish some things which may have helped me get hired here anyways so no regrets, I’m here… in the nick of time it turns out. I really do thank God every day I am here. I’ll never forget the call I made to my wife after day 1 of the interview and AK had just offered me a job. I’ll never forget making that call. I loved the ER, I love the 88 a lot, I love living in base... finally. Delta is huge and it is 75+ years old, and there a pros and cons for both. The powers that be said the merger would be a good thing, I think that has been proven right, we're a whole lot bigger now and luckily we did so by adding a whole lot of good people. |

That blows my mind...easy to do. So a RSV pilot is going to get single pay for the trip and be gone maybe 10 days....must not be married, or is and needs to get over to the orient for a few days:cool:

Unless I'm missing something, that math should be about right. Sometimes the rules around GS's get a bit too tricky for me to figure out. I need to study the reverse side of GS's as in maybe I shouldn't have accepted this one because it was worth a lot less than I thought. |
Put this in the ouch category. DFW-ATL commuter, 25 year pilot, unable to get on flights purchases a ticket to ATL, somewhere between $500-$600. When he prints it off at the kiosk what does it say? Seat Request Card.
He goes and asks the gate agent why no seat, the agent informs him sorry, we're oversold and you won't be on this flight and there isn't anything I can do about it. So he had to get a PD for his trip and he's got some Delta dollars to burn, someday. |

Pineapple won't like this but he should have called in sick after trying AA and airtran . By calling in stooopid he not only lost money on the denied boarding but lost his trip to boot. Too bad Dalpa was in such a rush to get a contract alone vs. working together to cherry pick...As more and more of you southies commute you will realize the value of our call in honest program.
