I saw a 744 FO get a GS 5 day with 17 hours block but 36 hours credit. He got 72 hours pf pay to DH to HNL through LAX, then fly to NRT, bounce around Asia, & go back to DTW via HNL.

I don't think it's as easy to break them up when their inter Asia trips that don't make it back to DTW until the last day.

I don't know the contract reference or if there even is one but it's been done this way for a long time.

Denny

The best way to avoid this is to submit a second GS with the new parameters you want. Do not change or delete the first one unless it is right before the 7am or 6 pm windows. That keeps the first one active at your seniority level and the second one will be in but you go to the bottom of the list.

Sadly NW was never able to negotiate any type of call in honest policy in their contract. The only call in honest policy was in the Delta contract. NW flight ops had extended a policy only that could be revoked at any time to the NW pilots for commuting. All attempts to get that policy in the contract at NW failed. There was nothing to bring over to the joint contract.
The joint contract was negotiated by both NW and Delta pilots. The Delta pilots did not do it alone. The NW pilots voted to ratify that contract with a much higher percentage of yes votes then the Delta pilots.

Assuming it was a reserve (and the trip was completely covered on his X days), he would work this one trip and get 137 hours AND get his X days back... the regular line dude would still have to work his regular schedule... much much better deal if it was a reserve.

Edit: Dang Denny.. you beat me to the explanation

I don't understand your logic here... this is a smokin' deal for a reserve pilot. It is one part of the contract that we should all vote no on if management tries to change (like they supposedly did the last contract).

Lol. In order to properly staff for this summer management has received a waiver to allow our domestic pilots to exceed 30/7.

Yeah Ts, when I finally get based out of home here in SEA at the end of the year, I may just try doing this a few times and see how it works!
