Deals off, 80! ftb, you want the job? The fact that this ..... http://i970.photobucket.com/albums/a...ffin/Newks.gif ..... is the only pic I could come up with shows that one of you need the head interviewers job. :D Sorry bro! I tried emailing it to you twice. :( Had to let FO Big Bird take the reins and let the world see your most gloriious creation. I second super as official coed selec-TOR. |

I second super as official coed selec-TOR. My filter must be in full anti-80 mode. I get all types of filth from my buds. :D |
I mean, why didn't someone stop him? And how come what he is doing is so out of sync with everyone else and reality? That's just not something Super, our resident cheerleader aficionado would approve of...

Who bought all of those DC-9's for NWA?
Who is buying used jets here? Many do not want to say it, but the major reason the legacies took it in the shorts and ran to the RJ world for one of may Band Aids was airlines like SWA, AAI and Jet Blue with lower labor costs, and very low overhead cherry picking markets left and right. That sent margins through the floor. Add 9-11 and the overwhelming debt that the legacies could no longer pay and we saw a perfect storm. The money managers that ran the airlines early last decade leveraged the airlines and their pilot groups in hopes it was a fad, like acid washed jeans, when that failed, they used pensions as a way to get scope concessions as another short term fix, when that failed they went in to CH 11, and stripped the costs to a level low enough to compete with the likes of these LLC's. Now the playing field is relatively balanced, and consolidation is the new way to try and increase our margins. Pilots looks to SWA has a benchmark to strive for when in fact it was that airline that was mostly responsible for the a la carte mentality we all are struggling though today. There were many mistakes made but hindsight lets us see them clearly. The past is in the rear view mirror, lets learn from it and not repeat it. |

Just checking, but didn't NWA nearly go bankrupt in 1993 AND go bankrupt in 2005?
Maybe all those gas guzzling DC-9's weren't as profitable as the "spin" you provide! :p The RJ was disruptive technology. It didn't enter service until December, 1993. It ensured the demise of many mainline only cities, as other networks were able to connect to those cities where they couldn't with Saabs and DHC-8's. Delta has plenty of those examples as well (even the hometown of Monroe). We used to be the only game in town. It then got connected to IAH, DFW, and other hubs with ERJ's. That was the death of the 737/DC-9. Total seats are the same, just different networks flying them. |
