Question for you guys who were previously based in MEM, DTW, MSP and SEA ;) and might know the answer. Captain was telling me his FO was doing a walkaround at one of those bases and was back by the baggage loader when he saw a bag fall off and hit the ground. He picked it up and put it back on the loader. Supervisor came out mad, said he was going to pink slip him, or it for 4 hours of pay.
Never heard of this. So if I find the air hose connected but not running or kinked bad, not allowed to touch it? Just want to clarify, confirm and pass along. A ramper who isn't doing his job, i.e. picking up that bag, un-kinking air hose, not getting strollers, etc. gets 4 hours of pay from whatever non-teamster did do...the pay comes from Delta's coffers, not the individual performing the act. Go fetch mom's stroller, and some dude gets $600 for not doing anything. I've warned my f/o's not to be a nice guy at particular stations. |

True dat. It has happened several times this month in DTW. It's called "pay slip", not "pink slip". Pink slipping is something we should be doing. I couldn't believe this when I heard it - verified by ATL CPO...DL legal said not to warn line pilots of this due to the perception of anti-union rhetoric (and an impending lawsuit).

glad ya'll brought this up! I would not have ever believed this.....
Unbelievable! |
Heyas,
I'm sure we'd all get pretty cranky if a RJ showed up to fly a leg on one of our rotations, and I'd bet cash money that our first call would be to ALPA to make sure we got paid for the leg that they flew. Busting on another group for protecting their work is pretty hypocritical. I only wish we were as agressive in protecting 'our work' Nu |

I mean my gosh our rampers would ask for a hand since they knew they could count on us helping them with the strollers. |

I will not make my/our pax suffer b/c there is a provision in some hourly employees contract that says they can be pathetic SOB's and then get extra pay for their spineless behavior. I will continue to get strollers, fix hoses, and help out where needed because that's the way it should be. End of rant over stupid union BS. |
