Delta has placed a firm order on Orgasmatrons?
(obscure reference to "Barbarella")

Okay, 80...what is this, really?
-Chuck Norris' espresso machine?
-What's really under the hood of the Gov't Motors "Volt" ?
-Richard Anderson's must-have souvenir from his Auschwitz tour?
-Microsoft's answer to the IPad?

Actually, seems somewhat similar to a 737-200 - flew it on Express as a new hire (although the 737-200 did have some automation). Hated flying a manual airplane, non glass, non FMS A/C - all my respect in the world to ALL the DC-9 guys - never have any desire to fly it.

1.) No Auto throttles I can live without that, I think. Did so on the RJ. Went from Mach .8 to Mach .72 to Mach .8 to Mach .71... I can easily be the best trombone player you've ever seen!
2.) No Altitude capture Can I hit my altitude going 1000' fpm and then go 100' beyond my altitude and then adjust back? Like the 88?
3.) No auto brakes I'm a manual kind of guy.
4.) No glass I do love glass :(
5.) No Air conditioning getting used to it! did you not see my complaints about Georgia weather?
6.) No CAT III autoland never really use it. when the plane needs it nobody does it and then when you do it you keep the cockpit door closed as everyone exits and you swear never to do it again. (unless you tweak it, then its reaaal nice :D)
7.) No Closet we're about to lose ours. So I can get over it I guess- after we lose ours, not before.
8.) No VNAV the 88 has VNAV?
9.) No LNAV gulp... wait? I'll take vectors please.
10.) ........... this is the one that worries me the most really. The mystery ".......". Wonder what it is?

......... Nevermind. Yes. I will teach you how to fly the DC-9.

Yes, you can teach me! I mean, you'll pull you're hair out, but you can try to teach me and I'll try to learn!

NewK: "Okay, review, whats the most important thing that the 88 has that the 9 doesn't?"
FTB: "ME!"
Newk: "Thats it I quit."

So I don't have to get my own ATIS? If I ever had to get ATL's extra extra long ATIS over the radio, I think I'd go without. That thing gets way too long. Or is it JFK's thats way to long?

Speaking of that, last time I flew ATL it wasn't busy but they were running meetering, meatering, metering? Anyways, it really does cut down on radio conversations by a lot and I am hoping it becomes a permanent thing. I also wish they'd drop the contact tower part. Just have a sign or something that says "Monitor Tower 125.32" or something. That'd cut down the unncessary chatter almost completely. Even better would be to make permanent the 'taxi to the ramp and monitor ground' thing some of them do. Wow. Ground would be silent except for taxi out calls.
