No worries - no harm done. I think guys were referring to obvious falsehood of the rumor. It would make no sense to raise the pay on 12,000+ pilots by 45% or even 22% (older rumor) to save maybe 10-15% on what, less than 500-1000 pilots at most? And even that would be years down the road, and only with hundreds of 100 seaters operating. I think it was Ben Franklin who first stated: "He who trades Scope for pay-rates will eventually have neither." Besides, even if it was a genuine offer - we would have those pay-rates for about two paychecks, they would get the Scope relief they wanted, and then they would weasel out of the pay-rates through some sort of legal sophistry. It would seem, even to the casual L&G poster, this does not pass the sniff test. As to guys getting testy about you posting a rumor - don't worry about that, I have been cursed out with profanity for suggesting we cut another pilot some slack - by someone professing to be pushing pilot solidarity if you can believe that.:confused: Scoop |

Thanks for the info. Is A320 training still done in MSP? I assume MD88/90 is done in ATL. Would a new hire who gets an A320 position do Indoc in ATL and then CPT/SIM in MSP?

Off subject, for those of you iPhone users out there whom want to jailbreak your phone now that atat/apple can't stop you per the governments ruling, check out
Go to the below link on your phone and it does everything for you. So far my phone is a new machine! JailbreakMe I just did it last night and I'm amazed at how much more this phone offers now that apple and atat don't have complete control. Tethering is back also which is a great thing for those long airport sits. Themes, ringtones, text sounds, etc all available for free. I know have a full Texas longhorn themed iPhone ;). Enjoy!! |

At least the amount of the raise in the rumor keeps getting bigger and bigger!
I would do yourself a favor before posting something like this and work out the math. A raise like that is somewhere between 550 to 600 million dollars a year in cost to the company. If you think they are going to give that up to outsource the 100 seat flying then I have hundreds of bridges to sell you! Whatever the pay raise is great, but the bottom line is until we have been given back the things(pay, regs, etc...) we gave up in the past to help position the company to better compete and be successful, absolutely ZERO concessions to achieve such goal should be asked for and if asked should not even be accepted by Lee Moak and ALPA. It is time for a line to be drawn and it starts by learning to say the word " No " DALPA. Once the company makes us at par with what was given up, sure I can see them talking and working on some small concessions, but the one concession that cannot be given for pay is scope. Wether you are senior or junior, the 100 seater will take every narrowbody pilot's current job. The company and DALPA are having discussions right now, are you having them with our reps? If you were hired after 2000 here you better, because your gonna see your job from the unemployment line alot sooner than you think. And just to further drive this home, WHY IN FREAKIN HECK WOULD DELTA SELL IT'S DCI SUBSIDIARIES FOR NOTHING??? Because they are going to transfer flying there somehow someway and you better make sure your rep knows that ALL FLYING FOR DELTA WILL BE BY A PILOT ON THE DELTA SENIORITY LIST--and this must be in the contract. At this point, I do not care if ALPA also represents regional pilots, we must kill them now with language in this contract. ALPA has set it's self up to have a severe conflict of interest and they better get it taken care of soon. |

Oh no. I think you guys have made a big mistake. I saw this on T.V. and an Apple spokesmen said that when they push an update, your phone will cease to work. And it is legal for them to do so just as it is legal for you to crack it.
Any truth or is this saber rattling? I used an iPhone 2G on T-Mobile for two years with no trouble. You have to be careful with the updates, but as far as I know, they can't push updates. They didn't for two years, I know that. The worse case is that you update your software before the new Jailbreak is ready and you have an updated iPhone that isn't Jailbroken. |

I'm an iPhone guy but, uhh, what's "tethering?" Sounds fun, and I have lots of long sits, do tell...
Even more amazing, the newer Sprint and Verizon Android phones can act like mini wi-fi hot spots, giving connections up to a multitude of computers. But, you guessed it, AT&T and the iPhone don't let you do that. |

Scare-mongering. What else would an Apple spokesman say? "It's fine - go ahead and do it?"

The worse case is that you update your software before the new Jailbreak is ready and you have an updated iPhone that isn't Jailbroken. Their website says if your battery is getting bad, bring your phone in, and we'll replace it. Takes a week, and costs $89. So I go to the local Apple store (which always smells like a locker room these days), managed to stop one of their employees (apparently "Homless Chic" is the dress code). They go "well, normally we'd need you to make an appointment for that, but let me see if someone can help you". So homeless guy #2 takes 15 seconds to explain to me that Apple no longer will replace batteries, but they exchange the whole phone. "Fine", I say, "I synced the phone before I left home, and cloned to my GFs old iPhone..all I have to do is switch SIMs", Him: "Plus it the exchange will cost $199 and take a week". Well screw that. On my way home, I stopped by a whole-in-the wall cell phone place that actually fixes phones. They swapped my battery out for a nominal cost, and it was done in 30 minutes. Between this, and their retarded file system and locked down app store, when this phone dies, it's an Android for sure.... Nu |
