I was initially happy with the composition of the new Neg. Committee because of the overall seniority and positions they held, thinking that these guys are not going to sell the store because 3 of the 4 are going to be here for a while and are not CA's yet. Unfortunately, my positive view of the newly appointed committee was overshadowed by the Chairman's remark to my friend, "We don't rock the boat at DAL" |

This happened earlier this year, before he became the Chairman of the Neg. Committee. After his new appointment, it was brought up to the MEC Vice Chairman in person, I was there, but it never went anywhere. He supposedly attempted to set up a meeting that never materialized.

Part of the problem, of course, is that there ever are hardly any of us at any meeting, and so no valid resolution ever gets a second. In addition, I'm in the rank that believes that, in 2010, we can do better than inconvenient meetings in person. There is always... the internet. |

Carl,
I'm not willing to give anything up, the question should be, how much is our Neg. Committee willing to give up and that should worry all of us. The current Chairman of the Neg. Committee told a friend of mine, "We don't rock the boat at DAL", and the context was related to a direct violation of the PWA while he was the Scheduling Committee Chairman. BOHICA for 2012. :D That's pure horse doodoo from beginning to end. What we don't do at DAL is pursue pointless grievances when the contract states "A" and the pilot wishes that it stated "B". But I do know that the union annually recoups literally several million dollars of pay protection for pilots who were improperly bypassed for trip awards, premium pay, etc. But sometimes the union also has to tell a guy he doesn't have a case...if he truly doesn't have one. There are plenty of times when a pilot indeed does have a case, and the scheduling and contract admin guys are usually all over it. |
I think its a little mean to pick on the AE computer system given its probably already done and its now got to be reveiwed by a lot of people and signed off by everbody in the GO from RA, SD, LM, Slow, Sailing, Sailing/Slow, Alfa, ACL will get a sneak peak, it will accidently be sent to Ferds delta email account but he never looks at it so he won't know and so on.
Just imagine if we were doing this like they did back in 1992: http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...id/temp-99.jpg |

Actually, I tried dating myself for awhile and really didn't care for it. I was far too ego-centric, talked a lot with my hands, and didn't really want to communicate on the level that I was looking for. I was gone a lot, sort of anal about a lot of things, had a tendency to see life through the lens of a checklist. Just not spontaneous at all. In fact, I didn't really like myself....so I had to move on. |
