Gloopy;
I have the same sentiments you do. I would like to see the flying in house. We all know that the flying is allowed per the PWA. Maybe DAL will at some point opt out of the CS, but I see them acquiring them before that would happen.

I also agree that AK gets a ton of benefit. They have been able to recall almost all of their pilots by picking up routes we coincidentally drop the day before. On that side of it, I agree. The issue becomes growth. We have parked 9's moved jets on to new routes and AK has picked up the abandoned ones. Works well for them, and well for our corporation, but keeps the pilots of DAL flying the same amount of metal, but to different cities. That is the one glaring hole in the CS. It does not limit much.

I would call the CPSC, and or ALPA to have them give you the exact course of action to take. This requires a requal due to you becoming non current.

I am guessing that you will run out of sick time, so LTS or disability will kick in. Let the pros guide you though this. They are all top notch.

On a personal note, get well soon. That is a bugger of a surgery.

I do get that. To a point. I actually like the philosophy behind getting cheap A/C now with no debt and leapfrogging the competition when the nextgen narrowbodies come out. (assuming thats what we do and not hire TSA/SKYW/RAH to do Mitsubishi/C Series for us). The AK CS is providing some great feed that was absent pre DAL + NWA. Much of that feed is pumping up the Pacific expansion...

Agree 100%

Even worse, they are two-timing us with AA. To them we are another additional partner, while to us they are the crucial lynchpin to our West-Coast feed...
That's played out in the numbers as we send more traffic to Alaska, then they send to us...

You hit the nail on the head. The whole outsourcing of Mexico flying (I think that was LOA 21) reduced LAX 73N flying significantly...

Thanks for help. Yeah, not looking forward to it. Have talked to CPSC. They said I could do either. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience that could offer some adive. Will call ALPA.

I had knee surgery once about 8 years ago. I simply called in sick. If I went non current.......their problem. Never heard from the CP.

Nothing in the PWA...

They used to do it all the time until the new schedulers showed up about a year ago. That's around the time I first starting hearing that line. I'm guessing there's a schedulers' "handbook" with language to that effect.

The former schedulers seemed to be more "empowered" and able to "make it so..."

No kidding.... And that ALPA has done zero to fix it is reason enought for DPA to succeed. In NYC we are sitting SC from 6:30am and for 24 hours because we are international pilots (that's two nights in a NYC hotel or crashpad for commuters pr. shortcall). First international push is in the afternoon, where is ALPA ??? I guess it doesn't matter for them cause only senior lineholder counts...

Gotta agree with you on the int'l shortcall thing. 24 hr shortcall for 777 in nyc and there is NO push - no originator -because they can. Thanks for the help ALPA.

I'm an 7ER guy and I know it's even worse for the 777 and the 400 guys up there, something needs to be done or we need more sick time... (despite the fact I hate using it)
