Would no hiring in 2011 (or until late 2011) mean nobody at all, or just no off the street hiring? Will flow-throughs continue to flow?

Just got done with my annual trip to the schoolhouse.
Had a short chat opportunity with a 4th floor management pilot. No hot new rumors. Last they had heard over there was there will probably be some hiring again in the fall of 2011. Maybe a lot, maybe a little. All depends on the economy. They know they drove the airline too hard this last summer. Not enough planes, parts or people. Made a lot of money but performance and service suffered. Don't want to do that again. Also heard confirmation that we are searching the globe for every MD-90 we can find, but you guys already knew that. |

I got the impression that guys have already been staying beyond 60 at a higher rate than anybody anticipated.
They thought more NWA pilots that still have their defined benefit would leave. They haven't. Wait a minute! We were told not to worry about them on the SLI because they were gonna leave at 60 anyway! Are you saying that wasn't true??? :D I keed! |

We asked about that. Attrition is a big unkown until more people start hitting the 65 mandatory.

Partially because the retiree medical benefits suck compared to the fNW contract. Fix it and see how many retire earlier than under the present circumstances...
Cost of medical care is a huge factor in that decision. |
Heyas,
Since we are talking about a potential AK merger, I'd like to hear how the NWA merger was sold to the fDAL guys. On the fNWA side, we didn't get a whole lot of information, of than "yea, it's happening, we're going to do our best". Nu |

Who would one ask about future destinations and line construction with every M88 pilot also a M90 pilot? Just wondering if ATL pilots can expect to see pairings with some more flying west of the Mississippi.

Right on the money.
Cost of medical care is a huge factor in that decision. As it stands, the DAL plan costs a huge amount of coin....enough to flip it into the negative side. Nu |

I can't remember actually, I think it was all about a stronger and improved network. |
