Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
If you commute into your base to operate a trip originating from such you only need to check in at show time, like a local bubba.
There is more, but it relates to online commuting into a same duty flight and stuff about being in position to rest before operating long flight segments.

If the company wants to eliminate commuting then the will pay COLA. A guy can not live as nicely in the NYC are on the same pay as a guy living in the DTW area. I think airlines will fight rules that eliminate commuting, because not allowing commuting will cost them $$$.
Occam's razor.
The company will simply require you to check in on a company owned computer in your base xx hours prior to your departure. It won't cost them anything because it will be based on a new Federal rest requirement.
One could also argue that a new regulation like this could make it easier to implement a better Call in Honest Policy to avoid having to increase reserve staffing.

It's time to get some "me too" from our FA about satellite basing, aka "Alternate Flying Program". I know for us it'a lot more complex, but we gotta start someplace.

Sorry to break discussion, but can some of you IAH commuters tell me where you park??? Have to turn in my XJT badge and am trying to figure out where the best place to park is for my jaunts to and from training. Thanks in advance!!!
SWA also let's pilots trade partial rotations. So my buds that live out of base just drop a leg or two on the front/back and try to fly trips that start/end at home(non-domicile). Someone else wants those leg/legs to get paid to get home somewhere else.
Scheds can break up rotations ......why can't we?

As I said, an uninterrupted chain of events. There are also several other human factors on the Captain side that I believe play a huge role in this accident.
