Medical Question???
My 11 year old just diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Trying to sort through all the plans. Anyone have a suggestion/experience as to which plan works the best for diabetes. Do any of the options have the byram plan. Sorry for the off subject question, but any thoughts would help, please PM. Thanks.

So has anybody here had to opt out of the full body scanners yet? DTW is about the implement them, & I refuse to go through them. I will always opt out, period.

That's what I thought. My kids will be out of college in 22 years and that is when I hope to be able to retire. My farm ground isn't as nice as what you probably have in NE Texas, but it's provided a living for 4 generations and I hope to be the 5th. I would love to run nothing but a John Deere after age 50.
Ditto RB....We have a Ranch in So Cal and if the estate tax doesn't wipe us out I just want to hang and ride dirt bikes w/ my kids and surf. Take a look the self directed 401k and check out GLD GDX NEM CEF.
Good luck to all of us now that a pension is out of the question.
Baja.

My little one was diagnosed a little more than a year ago. We switched from the gold plan to the diamond hsa and thought that worked better. For example we just got a $7000 dollar insulin pump that was covered. Byrum has been outstanding for supplies. Delta had a United health rep calling us frequently if we needed help. Very nice. There will be scary times ahead. We have found the JDRF to be a great resource. Also as soon as you and your endocrinologist feel comfortable, get an insulin pump. The increase in precision is amazing and lets kids eat like kids.
Those pumps are a life saver. My mother has had one for a few years as well as my cousin. Blood sugars are always in the 80-95 range with it. Before they could be as high as 450!

I was going through security yesterday and the line was moving toward the scanner. The TSA guy saw me and said "Sir, you don't need to go through there, come over here." I was sort of intrigued but went around anyway. Nobody else seemed to have an issue. I think most folks didn't know what it was.
