My little one was diagnosed a little more than a year ago. We switched from the gold plan to the diamond hsa and thought that worked better. For example we just got a $7000 dollar insulin pump that was covered. Byrum has been outstanding for supplies. Delta had a United health rep calling us frequently if we needed help. Very nice. There will be scary times ahead. We have found the JDRF to be a great resource. Also as soon as you and your endocrinologist feel comfortable, get an insulin pump. The increase in precision is amazing and lets kids eat like kids.

So has anybody here had to opt out of the full body scanners yet? DTW is about the implement them, & I refuse to go through them. I will always opt out, period.

Yes, but still applicable. Probably even more so today.

It is the price tag that is what scares me. One of my friends has a daughter at BC and the price per year is more than I make!

I agree. I have 250+ acres and am looking to buy the 600 next to mine. Working on getting some Natural gas wells and some more cows. That is my retirement plan. I hope to be able to do that a long time before I am 65.

Those pumps are a life saver. My mother has had one for a few years as well as my cousin. Blood sugars are always in the 80-95 range with it. Before they could be as high as 450!

WOW, my cousin is that way. She was diagnosed at 10. The also as a gluten intolerance which they feel that, if it was caught sooner she would not be type one now.

I was going through security yesterday and the line was moving toward the scanner. The TSA guy saw me and said "Sir, you don't need to go through there, come over here." I was sort of intrigued but went around anyway. Nobody else seemed to have an issue. I think most folks didn't know what it was.
