Btw I voted on your link and guess what car is winning? Here's a hint, it was built in Australia :-)

Hey Super,
Road Atlanta has a track day for road cars on 28 Dec....scheduled by Skip Barber Racing School. One of the greatest natural road courses in North America....bring the Goat, I'll meet you, and let's see what you got.

Regards :D

Hope the track is warmer than the roads have been lately. Summer tires have all the stick of MD40 soaked ping pong balls right now.

I'd like to get a DAL pilot LeMons team together and take the fight to those US Air boys over in Charlotte.

FTB's dream car.

It'd be affordable if I was on the 320! :D My new year resolution to stop bidding down to reserve and start bidding to a line for $$$ was met by PBS's new years resolution that bidding down was no longer an option.

It's back and it's so much better. $29,500 for a 2011 base GT is a deal which will not be repeated in my lifetime.

FTB, looks like my 2004 Lariat (loved that truck) which was sold in 2007 with the new hire pay cut. Shopping for a FX2 with the 3.5 EcoBoost as soon as they hit the lot. May just do an STX with the 3.7. Drove one with the 3.73. The six cylinder feels quicker and lighter on its feet than the 5.4 Triton did. Also like the electronic power steering that everyone else is dogging.

Sorry about the thread creep, boring day waiting for the Crew Scheduling to reward my sobriety with a big fat Green Slip.

Remember where you heard it first. Using reasonably accurate estimates our MD88 and 757 fleets are nearing structural limits requiring their replacement. Figuring a 18 to 36 month lead time from orders to deliveries we are serious shoppers.

http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ma...elta-5457.html

Stock usually jumps with talk of airplane orders. As a trade, buy DAL on the dips, plan for a sale around mid to late June. I can see a Delta representative at the Paris Air Show talking about how our orders integrate into the needs of our global partners, with the Air France rep standing in front of an A380 model. If so, good for us as we get a lot more staffing out of our split in the AF/SkyTeam allocation.

What is most interesting about this announcement is the signal it sends on potential merger partners. This tells me it is less likely (although still possible) we believe Alaska's fleet will be deployed as part of Delta.

I think paying for our own fleet replacement is something of a last resort for Delta management. Aside from the DC9, there are no efficiencies that will make the new jets "self financing." In fact, in the case of the 757, the replacement jet may not even be as efficient (refer to press on British Airways replacement of their aging 757's with A321's).

Interesting post Bar.

I agree that there are no current jets that meet our long term needs (WRT to the narrow body market)
A few comments:
1) Talking does not mean buying, but I do agree that they need to look and it is good that they are.
2) Looking now and even ordering a new clean sheet design (minus the 350, 787 and C-Series) means that if ordered those jets will not be here for at least five more years (Best case)
3) Delta does not talk publicly about its plans unless there is an underlying reason. In this case they could be sending a signal to Boeing to get off their duff, and airlines they want to merge with, that yes, there are other options besides buying them. It would be more of a warning to all. Do not get greedy!

MSP had a bad weather day (not the shutdown last week, this was in Nov) so they put *ALL* the 7ER categories east of the Mississippi "on alert" for lack of a better term.

The scheduling guy said, well, the SC list is just a projection, they can add to it for any reason. This irks me to no end - what's the point of a list if you're not going to follow it?

Like someone else said, I'd prefer to just not know what the SCs are, rather than look at the proposed list, then the actual list and get annoyed there are twice as many on SC as proposed.

Just realize that even when they stick the majority of the available reserve pilots on SC, they are still handing out some green slips (as of late)
