Yeah, I'm betting you are right.. All those senior international guys are just chomping at the bit to bid the -88 and fly 5 legs/day. You junior guys SHOULD be worried. :rolleyes:

Yeah, I think I would like this plan a LOT.

It doesn't bother me one bit to know that you would be making more money than me to "do the same job" Are we REALLY sticking to that as some sort of lame justification to keeping the pay the way it is? We all "do the same job". I just think that the mere fact that these pay scales STOP at 12 years means that there are a LOT of guys that are doing the same job for the same money, yet their QOL is inverted because of that position on the seniority list. I guess that's the old saw of "don't worry son.. you'll be senior someday"

One last perspective. Think about a merger with someone like Alaska. Give 'em DOH.. and longevity based pay.. and what incentive would there be for them to bid onto your precious whale? the OINLY one would be because they wanted to fly it. They wouldn't make any more money doing it.. and they probably wouldn't be senior enough to justify the fact that they would no longer be driving to work in SEA.. but commuting cross country to fly an airplane that they would probably not be senior on in the first place... Yup.. I'd take that chance in a heart beat.


I know I am tilting at windmills because there seems to be no imagination out there. I hope the whale pays $500/hour because.. well.. you know.. those 175 guys have earned it.

Just call scheduling and tell them that you want to be marked as done for the month. If you want to fly more you can green slip, but you don't get double pay as a reserve guy.

I think he is implying that some of that will happen, just not necessarily on the 88. At some of the Euro carriers that have stripe pay, the non-international narrow body seats are senior because they don't have to deal with jet lag as they approach 60-65 in age.
