Another 15-20 777s would be a nice gift from Santa.
TheStreet Mobi Boeing Boosts 777 Production By Ted Reed - 12/20/10 - 9:58 AM EST Tickers in this article: BA EVERETT, Wash. (TheStreet) -- Boeing(NYSE:BA) said it will boost production of the 777, one of its two most profitable airplanes, due to increased demand. The company said the 777 production rate will increase to 8.3 aircraft a month in the first quarter of 2013, marking the year's second scheduled production increase. In March, Boeing said it would increase production from five to seven airplanes per month starting in mid-2011. "In response to strong customer demand globally, we are increasing our yearly production to one hundred 777s," said Jim Albaugh, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in a prepared statement. "The 777 is the twin-aisle market leader." So far, 907 Boeing 777s have been delivered. The company has a backlog of more than 250 airplanes. The 777 production increase follows two schedule increases this year for the 737. Boeing remains a company that funds 787 delays with increasing sales of its two market leaders, the 737 and 777. |

We are up-gauging equipment in the largest transatlantic travel market. That's a good sign. Cheers George |

Here's a good article discussing the A320 NEO.
Business & Technology | New engines for A320 pose dilemma for Boeing | Seattle Times Newspaper Even Boeing's management states the airplane's savings would result in it's saving 3 to 4 % after acquisition costs were factored in. Boeing claimed the new engine would be more expensive to maintain. Of course Pratt and GE both state their engines will cost less to maintain than a CFM56. I posted some other articles that suggest Boeing's really dorked up on the 787. They may have outsourced themselves right out of the single aisle business. It is a shame because these are American jobs and it sure isn't the worker's fault the program has been run the way it has. From an airline perspective, Boeing's product support is world's better than the French, or French Canadians. Not that Mulally's doing much better on his outsourcing at Ford. Their web boards are full of complaints that torque converters built in Mexico came complete with iron shavings that have destroyed a few thousand transmissions. It would be nice to see American companies drop their bias against American workers. |

That will start when the American consumer drops theirs. Baby Formula and toys that are toxic. Pet food that kills pets. Drywall that destroys the rest of your house. And now cars that have transmissions that self-destruct. Kids, Pets, Home, and Cars. The four things that Americans hold dear over everything else, and yet even epic fails in this arena does not disuade the consumer... cheap is still king. I would not hold your breath, Brother. Nu |
OK. need to refresh/clarify spill trips and PCS.....
I trade a 3-day over 4th, 5th, 6th and the 4th is 2 above min coverage(blue) for a 4 day that flies 5,6,7,8 it is legal and PCS accepts it. I try to do the same thing with a spill trip that operates 31, 1, 2 and the 31st is 2 over minimum (blue day) for a 4 day that operates 1, 2, 3, 4. Icrew rejects the swap request. This is AFTER bids are published and loaded. WTFRICK??? If I "personal drop" the trip, it looks at coverage on all days the trip operates in BOTH months. If I PCS a trip, it looks at the months separately. How and why does the company benefit from this? (Obviously its a concession, but how and why did this happen?) Can DALPA do anything about it? Would a resolution at my next LEC meeting help us fix this? Lastly, is there a workaround besides hoping someone picks it up on a swap board? |
In 787 news:
Not one mention of the 787 in Randy's year end blog, that's not good news: Better things Seattle PI now is quoting another 3-6 month delay: Business & Technology | Dreamliner's woes pile up | Seattle Times Newspaper Not cheering anything here, but DAL's 2020 deliveries deferment doesn't look downright ridiculous any more... Guys like you (out of seniority LCA when compared to a stovepiped list) would really not like the consequences of longevity pay. But... enlighten me as to why I wouldn't like longevity based pay. Why is there so much fear among you guys to try anything different. ALPA has zero competition.. a monopoly.. and therefore has no reason to..... arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh |
