I think we actually gave that up in the 1996 contract well before Chapter 11.

Being senior in a category not only gives you a much higher quality of life but also generally gives you more pay. Its much easier to WS choice trips or GS trips if you are at the top of a category. That is why any switch to a seniority based system would require a system rebid before it could be considered fair. I would certainly downbid asap to the 737-800 if we go that route to be as senior as possible and insure both the best QAL and pay.

The SLI does not change at all. Pay has no bearing on seniority.. but seniority absolutely affects pay. If you are senior in category.. you will remain so.

You guys TOTALLY miss the point. I give up.

$500/hour for the whales... God knows they deserve it, and it will be good for all of us:rolleyes:

OK.. why do we need make a choice about choosing money or QOL. That is defeatist. You essentially are saying that we cannot have both, so we have to make a choice. ..

Keep in mind, any change you make has to be cost nuetral. Your pay system cannot cost more than it would cost to use the current pay system. And I dont see DC9 pay plus 3% for every year out to 40 years as being cost nuetral. THe top end pay would be too high. And if thats the case, that means the bottom end pay would have to be lower.

Add to that, you only arguing pay rates. What do you say to a pilot that is currently a senior on a smaller airplane and consequently makes more money by flying greenslips. Will that pilot be able to continue doing that after a rebid when pilots who are senior bid back cause they are tired of going to Lagos?

You get 6 a month, when your cat is overmanned then they can exceed that list daily because they can. And I'm mspm88 b.

System wide the last tally I saw showed the average reserve pilot sitting 2.8 shortcalls per month. It varies from category to category but the company is not giving everyone 6 just because they can. It is worth sending it to DALPA they have been able to reduce the number of short calls many times.

the inverse assignments are flowing in Memphis, I guess no one wants to work over Christmas.....The next couple days are going to be pretty ugly for scheduling

Yup. I wouldn't want their job.

Funny. I thought I read 2.8.

For me....I'd say closer to 5-6 per month over the past 3 years.

I was originally on reserve 21-26. GS'd my way out of Christmas with PB days until the 30th. My only concern now is I finish a GS trip on the 24th and they are -3 that day. Gotta figure out how to avoid the RR assignment and I'll be off most of the 24th until the 30th. If I do end up working over christmas I'll be where I started off at and have close to 70 hours over guarantee for the trouble. I'm thinking the robo caller will get more use the next few days than it has all year long.

Nice job to the guy in MSP who snagged a 5-day out of base GS in DTW that lays over in MSP for Christmas. Home for Christmas and 29 hours pay...not bad.
