Chuck

I heard this exact rumor today. The DC-9 MEM to ATL part came directly from a very reliable source that should know. The DC-9 MSP to ATL part came third person from another very reliable source that should know. It sounds like it's pretty much a done deal... just awaiting final approval. I also heard that the AE should be out within the next week or two. Looks like I'll be back to commuting to ATL on mostly RJ's. :( Hey, MEM has been fun while it lasted! :) Guess I'll have to change my avatar. :D

Regarding the MSP and MEM DC-9 base closure, I have been told that is correct info by LCA's with the next award(displacement). They will open an ATL DC-9 base at the same award. You only have to look around ATL and see all the -9's floating around to see what's going to happen

Any word on DTW DC9? Will this be a net loss for MSP and MEM or other flying coming in?

Credit for the Chart to Boyd's Aviation Planning, Hotflash:

Point is, Delta is one of the few airlines expanding, although at a nominal pace. Most of the "expansion" is upsizing RJ's and DC9's.

Boyd expects an economic crunch to hit the 70 to 90 seat operations. He might be focusing too narrowly on small airport (regional airport) issues for his clients. He fails to note that a CRJ700/900 has a lower fuel burn per seat mile than anything with a JT8 engine on it.

His prognosis is based heavily on increasing fuel prices during 2011. He's probably right on that point, but, there is additional oil capacity coming on line too. United States domestic gasoline consumption has been steadily declining since 2006.

If fuel prices go anywhere near they are predicted to go, the DC9 is going to be an incredibly expensive airplane to operate.

It has outlived all the previous predictions of it's demise, but at some point it is going to not make any sense to operate it.

Oil demand increasing at almost twice the pace of supply is spurring the most-accurate forecasters to predict the second-highest price on record in 2011.

Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., whose estimate last January was within 1 percent of 2010’s mean price of $79.60 a barrel, says crude will average $90 this year. Natixis Bleichroeder Inc., which tied with Bernstein, sees $100 a barrel, 26 percent higher than in 2010. Global oil use will increase 1.7 percent to a record 87.8 million barrels a day this year, and output will rise 0.9 percent, according to the U.S. Energy Department.

I didn't max out my 401k last year, because I'm a financial idiot... Anyone here know if it's possible to retroactively fill it prior to tax day?

Anyone know how to log in to ECrew from home? I'm trying to get the SSI password for the quarterly CQ program. Thanks.
