This airline has been critically understaffed recently. (Blame IROPS if you want, but reserves should be reserves.. ) Why would anyone figure picking up trips over the cap is a problem?

Before you write "because pilots time out" realize that CS routinely schedules reserves BEYOND flight time limits, then "keeps an eye on it" while they hope the pilot gets enough under block to make it work. Then, when the inevitable occurs, it is the pilot's, passengers, operations and re-route's problem.

Judge Judy does not get why Management would be upset by Pilots engaging in a slightly lesser act than the maneuver management itself is already engaged in. Everyone is trying to maximize efficiency.

How does trip parking hurt the company?? The trips get covered and in most cases guys are doing it to bypass the max pickup so more trips are actually getting covered. I can see ALPA having an issue with it, but not the company.

Exactly... I'd think the company would be more than happy when we find new and more creative ways to bust our asses for straight pay.

Here's the problem: The MEC is supposed to get its "stance" from the reps. The majority of the reps seem to clearly understand the importance of Scope/Outsourcing. Why isn't the MEC listening to the "stance" of the reps? For those here who are devoted to the process, this should trouble you.

Pay has always been the primary concern with pilots at Delta. I said this here months ago and it has been that way for 20+ years. Note the word primary, that means the one top concern, that doesn't mean that aren't other concerns. Note that vacation, retirement, work rules, sick leave, and a host of other topics were also not mentioned, doesn't mean they aren't important, just that they aren't the primary concern. Ask any rep, look at any polling, go sit in the lounge and talk to a group of pilots and ask them their primary concern. 80+% will say pay is the primary concern of pilots right now. Scope is also very important, it just isn't number one right now amongst the entire pilot group. For some pilots it is, for others it isn't. Don't shoot the messenger, I am just telling you the time, I didn't build the clock.

Has anybody heard anything other than rumor about the JAN Position awards? Last trip I flew, I'd heard two rumors attributed to "someone in the know" that the DC-9 base in MSP and MEM were going to be moved to ATL on THIS award......Anybody???

Well, you (me) learn something new every day!!:) Somebody want to teach me something else today and pm me what and how one "parks" a trip?

Please cite the factual data the MEC has to support that assertion. Would my Reps have access to the same data? Seems a little odd to me to make that claim when contract survey's have not been done.

I could definitely see MEM, but I'm not sure about MSP. I guess I could see MSP moving too if they plan on replacing that flying with MD90's and RJ's.

Wilson polling goes on all the time. The reps have that data, I don't. Last contract survey was about 88% with pay as top priority, that was a few years ago (2004), but it hasn't changed much in 20+ years. Maybe now it's different.
