Getting people to work is another problem. We had to take the MARTA train from the mall to get to the airport. The van service quit operating on Monday. |
NJ.com : Overbooked? Delta says name your price
Delta Air Lines has started an online auction that tweaks the concept of Priceline.com. Instead of bidding how much they will pay for a flight, passengers bid how much money they want for being bumped from a crowded plane. Customers can bid on their computers or at an airport kiosk. The program, which started online last month, is believed to be an industry first, according to travel industry observers. "It sounds unique," said Steve Lott, a spokesman for the International Air Transportation Association, a trade group. "Airlines overbook because passengers don't always show up for flights, and the compensation they pay out for overbooking costs them in the millions." Delta takes the lowest bids first and pays passengers in "Delta Dollars," transportation vouchers that can be used for future flights, said Anthony Black, a spokesman for Delta, which serves Newark Liberty, John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia international airports. "On one of the auctions I saw, one bid was as low as $100, and they went all the way up to $400," he said. Airlines are notorious for overbooking flights. When too many people show up at the gate, passengers who are bumped have to be compensated for so-called "denied boardings." Delta said the online auction saves the airline time and money and is more convenient for passengers who have flexibility in their travel schedules. Passengers have to be compensated when they are involuntarily bumped by airlines if their departure is delayed by more than one hour, according to the federal Department of Transportation. Passengers can receive compensation ranging from the price of a one-way fare to a maximum of $800, depending on how long their departure is delayed. Continental Airlines, the largest carrier at Newark and a competitor to Delta, does not have an online bumping auction. Bumping could become more of an issue for carriers that have cut so much capacity their planes are running nearly full all the time, said Tim Winship, a contributing editor for SmarterTravel, an airfare website. "Airplanes used to be full 80 percent of the time in the summer," Winship said. "Now, they are running 80 percent full all year. That creates a situation in which there are more likely to be flights overbooked." |

1- If you cannot get to work call xxx-xxxx
2- If you commute from an outstation and can operate a flight out of that station call xxx-xxxx. 3- If you are off but are willing to work for time and a half call xxx-xxxx. 4- You can park in the north (blue) lot and get free parking with your SIDA badge. This works for AirTran yet here at Delta our guys can never get thru to crew tracking. |

Doug M that is brilliant!
How about having an IROPS page on I-crew that would allow you to select boxes containing that info. Let all of it be handled by computers. Select your choices and 10 mins later your schedule is corrected/updated automatically. Nah... too easy. "I'm an idea man! FEED the mayo TO the tuna!!" Cheers, ImTumbleweed |

I need some help from some IcrewMax gurus. I have a MacBook and when I click on a trip using IcrewMax the trip sheet fills up my screen and goes into the toolbar. I can't close the window without clicking on Itunes or IMovie. Does anyone know how to shrink the trip sheet so it fits just the screen itself? Thanks.
