I was in SLC when we had 120 crews on the 767. They yanked 60 crews out to open up the LAX category. Huge impact on the SLC base at the time.

....and that was the last time sailingfun ever smiled. :)

Looks like you're right with 1 exception. PWA 11.J covers this situation. KC10's "friend" could withdraw from ER training if the initial training is conducted at the MSP training facility provided he is a fdal pilot. In that instance he could return to his former -88 position while incurring a 2 year freeze

Are we doing any 7ER initial training in MSP? I've been up north for re-current on the ER, but initial qual wouldn't make sense without an ER sim.

Comments???? 330's to LAX?? LOL. Bye bye 320 MSP...Hello ATL from what I heard in MSP last week.

I had check airmen on JS the otherday, said ATL 320 flying would come from MEM/MSP/DTW and not SLC, but he clarified that the information was 2 months old. I'm sure things are changing fast.

You think MSP 320 will close all together?

MSP 320 was drawn down considerably when the MD90 moved there from SLC. Any further draw down of the MSP320 is probably to zero.

Wow you think? There's still 600 guys in those positions according to the 22.D.3 AUG 2011 thing. That would be quite a mess.

My vote would be for a "trim".

There are still 300 pilots in each seat in MSP 320, that's a pretty decent size hole to fill.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

I sure seem to enjoy my job and time off more then 98 percent of the frequent posters on here. You would think they are working in pure hell while being cheated out of everything in value in their lives from reading their posts. I have a non airline friend and I sent him here to research something that interested him. He read some of the threads and told me he had no idea things were so incredibly bad at Delta. I told him they are not, its the internet and you know how accurate that always is!

They actually increased staffing in MSP when they opened up SLC. The SLC 320 flying was entirely increased utilization. Everyone thought they were going to draw it down, but they had vacancies in MSP the same bid they opened SLC. Haven't watched what it has done since then, but I'm fairly certain it is about the same size it was before SLC saw the 320.

I see the 88 fleet migrating to MSP and NYC. From MSP they can cover the entire US, Canada, and Mexico with the 88. They can use the 320 in ATL to cover the entire US, Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean. They can't do that with the 88 down there. Same reason they moved the 320 to SLC because they couldn't hit the east coast with the 90's.

You need to learn to make the distinction between discontent over extremely substandard compensation and happiness with the job and time off. The discontent over compensation and poor career advancement due to outsourcing is perfectly legit, IMO. I don't quite understand why you would think otherwise. But it doesn't have to translate into a lack of enjoyment of the job and time off. I know it certainly doesn't for me. And I'll bet you would lump me into your "people who think they are working in pure hell" category. Right?

They can't make the East Coats from SLC in the winter with the 88. The 90 has no trouble with those legs. The 88 really struggled on SLC-PHL in the winter. The dash 50 version of the 90 is listed with a 3200 mile range. The standard is 2400 miles. Not sure the mix that Delta now owns between the versions but either can do anything east from SLC.
