^^ damn good looking jet. So glad we have so many pilots who don't want to fly them STILL. insert rolleyes here. ^^

I'd hit it if its in LA... ;-)

Embraer makes good airplanes, but maybe I'm biased because they took me on a junket around Brazil...

Cheers

Does anyone have unum insurance? I don't understand if it is supplemental or what. I get the feeling it is like AFLAC, is that right?

Bickering over ALPA dues on the profit sharing check seems petty to me.
I'm happy to get the extra money even if its a bit less after all deductions.

What really matters is what the dues money delivers in terms of

earnings
career progression
quality of life

Here here George!! I will bow out.

Given DAL loves those things so much that they keep getting more I'd sure like to see the Connection be scrubbed off the side and have them flown by people 100% committed to this airline, its customers, their fellow employees and paying 1. whatever percent to the union who got them those planes...

Buzz;

This isnt a partisan politics thread. But your comment was a two parter.

The first part was something of a defense of Imhofe (I'll take your defense of him as you are a republican).

The second part was a defense of long duty days since you thought it was safe, having done it for 20 years yourself.

Glory days being what they were, supplemental ops apply to 65 year olds equally to 21 year olds. It is probably a good policy to apply the worst of rules to the lowest common denominator. You probably did not do super long duty days for 80 hours of flying a month for the full 20 years, and I know you arent 65 yet.

Otherwise, I generally agree with and like your posts and logic.

Don't know why your singling out Inhofe because he made a stupid decision in his Cessna.

Buzz,

Your AF schedule was a vacation compared to what ACMI pilots do. These guys fly to the max duty limits, then have to repo the planes Part 91 & are often up for days on end. This guy landed on a CLOSED runway with men, equipment, & closed signs on the runway. Then he says 'Well people who fly a lot just don't check NOTAMS'. Really, I check mine every freaking leg! This guy made a mistake and almost killed people, & he wants to have ACMI pilots exempt from the new rules so they can continue to fly fatigued? What happens when they kill a plane full of our US Soldiers? How will he feel then?

Because HE is the one who wants the exemption. He drew it up. This isn't about right or left Buzz. It's about pilots who are carrying our US Troops around the world. Why should we get new rules, but they shouldn't? It's wrong, & you know it.

This guy is pushing for less rest when it's likely that his incident was caused by the same thing. And he wasnt carrying our Soldiers. Does everything have to be written in blood?

With all this talk about profit sharing, I have a stupid thought here, looking for verification or denial:

Isn't our profit sharing something that the union has to agree to, or negotiate?

I only ask because I seem to remember when NWA was trying to win us back with bonuses (Christmas, I think), that NWA ALPA made a big stink about it. I think it had something to do with interfering with their bargaining rights.

A lot has happened since then, so my memory is fuzzy.

Depends on the size of the amount. If they are offering only a few hundred the union doesn't care. With all large sums, the union will want control of the distribution. Unless of course the terms of distribution are already set.

Yes, and ALPA did. See the PWA Section 3.I.
