I do believe you. It just amazes me that we haven't crashed and burned because of this downtown. Everytime I walk into the airports, I jokingly tell the Capt, "will someone please tell these people that there's a recession going on!"

Originally I was told they were 1 for 1 and last week I was told that they were now growth airframes. Go in to the CPO office here in ATL and ask our old CP or new one. I heard both of them say it. Better yet go ask Steve on Thursday night here in PTC.
Do not take my word for it. Go ask the questions. I just ask a lot of questions and post what I am told, no more no less.[/quote] I just walked out of the CPO in Atlanta, from Mike Doyle - they are growth aircraft in the short term. Over time the category will see fewer 88's and more 90's but they are for growth at this time! |

No from the mouth of our CPO as well as other higher ops management. These jets are growth airplanes.
C checks are not that expensive. They are normally accomplished on a cycle and not all at once. It is the D checks that are major money drains. These are the ones where they take the skin off, etc. As for the 9's most of ones that may be parked will be replaced with other ones that are in storage in the desert. Until fuel goes up those bad boys will be flying. Now, as we get to 2012 and 2013 that will change. The Nav requirements past that date make it very expensive to operate the 9. It is a major mod with IRU's and or GPS. As we all know it can be done, but the conventional thinking is that it will be to costly. I am sure that depending on the economy that may change, but right now we are looking at four years tops on the 9 fleet. I specifically asked if these 90's were going to be brought in and traded 1 for 1. I was enthusiastically told no, they are growth airplanes and as of now there are no plans to park 88's and 9's as they come on line. Also, the 767/757's that are getting their tans in VCV are slated to be returning to the fleet next year. This is all info that is less than a week or two old. Any possibility of the rest of the displacements being cancled? |
Anyone know when they're moving DC9's to ATL? Are they actually going to base them there, or will they just be flown through?

Hi!
I am now based in NBO. Another American guy was supposed to be here on the 11th. He can get to Europe, but NOT NBO. Not the 11th, not the 12th, not the 13th, not the 14th. Unless he wants to try standby, he has so far not been able to find a SINGLE SEAT for ANY FLIGHT from Europe to NBO on any day until the 15th. I think that DAL's push into Africa will serve them well. Maybe I can get on at Compass and get stapled??? cliff NBO |
Has anyone have an idea what kind of hub MEM will be? What airplanes
