The problem is that our union is incredibly weak. IMO, they are nearly indiscernable from management.

Carl

I agree completely Carl. I'm in.

It probably would be. But even if it was, which leak would it be? There would be so many rumors flying around that the true rates even if leaked would be lost in the chaff.

The actual, verified TA sans section 3, however, would be right there in black and white for MEMRAT up or down.

Question for the folks who live here: I stumbled into this forum and thread when googling for what a white slip was, and most google searches seem to lead here... But I do see a lot of you guys posting in other threads I've just started looking at.

Is there another good forum or place where guys post about flying for Delta, schedules, rumors, etc., but without the 95% union/anti-union posts? No offense, I'm just looking for a place to learn and enjoy, but all this constant bickering is a real downer... I'd end up hanging myself in a month if I kept reading all of it, or a month ago if it weren't for FTB's artistic skills. Any recommendations for a Delta pilots place slightly toned down?

This is the place. You just caught us at the wrong time. Welcome and fire away (questions). :D

Delta Commercial

Seen a very cool commercial on TV about flying Delta. First one I've seen like this in years. Much, much better than Southwest's "Bags Fly Free" commercials. (still funny though) Off topic but thought I'd bring it up.

;) Well crap. I've been reading every post here since around last Nov, to be honest, and there's lots of good info...

but holy hell, it's like a convention of lawyers in limbo, told they can't argue about anything that will be decided within 3 years, must base 80% of their argument on conjecture and 100% must concern things no one outside the Board of Directors could possibly know... and whoever loses is going to hell. I've been told I like to argue, but this place is just insane! And there hasn't been any under-boob in days...

LOL... "Off topic", that's funny!

One area of concern is how many posts I see from folks saying "If I could make this income staying home, I'd stop flying immediately." Makes me think the job must hugely suck now, and I almost never see anyone posting, "This is a great job!". And I'm planning on commuting to SLC, which I read is universally considered a QOL killer.

Considering I actually do have a company that I can make this income at, or close, and don't really need the job if it came to it.... what options are there to actually drop trips, realistically? And how long am I committed for once I do training, if I find the job isn't worth it? Is there some "service committment" like the military after a move?

I still like my job. I know what b.s. smells like and what whining sounds like. I don't get involved in union politics and I'm not a company man - I go to work, fly my trip, and go home. I occasionaly gloss over these threads just to pick up a good rumor.

Take what you read here with a grain of salt. You're hearing most of the noise from the same ten people.

At least give it a chance before you already put yourself in "quit" mode because of something you read in an online forum.

Depending on what happens at NRT and the price of fuel there are some scary discussions going on about the 747 fleet plan. Rumor is all interior mods are on hold. Thats not good news.
I'm sure lots of austerity measures are probably being formulated. Heard from a friend who spoke to crew resources that 330 to ATL is on hold as well.

Better hope they don't park the 744 - that's roughly 300 very senior captains and 300 very senior F/O's to waterfall through other aircraft. Lots of pay cuts, stunted career growth, and maybe the word we whose name we do not speak.

Go hard or go home bro. The angst, argument and idea is what makes this place....oh yeah, and FTB. If we were all lovey dovey there wouldnt even be a L & G thread. It's incumbent upon you to sift through the morass for the nuggets. Its called "winning." We can only lead you to the water grasshopper...if we have to force you to drink, that would be characterized as "water boarding" and we sure as hell can't be accused of that, now can we? Even though many of us have been as a matter of routine training. Don't tell MSNBC, they'll become apoplectic.

Sorry. You dipped your toe into our hot tub.
