Would you be happy if DALPA did ask for mid contract restoration, & the company said no? Just curious. Looking for pilot group input.
The way I see it, there are two possible outcomes from approaching the company now and asking them to do the right thing. 1) They say yes, and we get a significant mid-contract partial pay restoration with no other changes to the contract (because we've already done way more than our fair share of giving and we'll make it clear that there will be no further givebacks). 2) They say no, and now we know exactly where we stand in this "relationship" and how to better proceed going forward. It could become our "contract is a contract" moment and unify our pilot group tremendously. Or DALPA can continue to sit back, play dead, with no apparent objective, and wait to see what falls in our laps. Problem is your NEVER going to unify our pilot group around that! |

So you want higher pay rates, you've got to take it from somewhere else in the pot. That's what we're hearing when that's asked. But I haven't heard it asked since the "I'm willing to give up ALPA" retort came around. :D

Our union leadership goes in and simply says: "Bankruptcy wages are over. We're here to negotiate a significant pay bump outside of Section 6. We're willing to give nothing in return even though we're in mid contract. Just like we gave huge pay cuts to you for nothing in return outside of Section 6. If you agree, our pilots increased motivation will help with a lot of your p!ss poor managerial decision. If you disagree, our pilots lack of motivation to help will not go unnoticed by you."

The problem is that our union is incredibly weak. IMO, they are nearly indiscernable from management.

Depending on what happens at NRT and the price of fuel there are some scary discussions going on about the 747 fleet plan. Rumor is all interior mods are on hold. Thats not good news.

They can put it on the DTW-HKG and DTW-PVG routes. That would free up the 777 to STAY on the Lagos route this summer. :D
