Tsquare,
You totally missed the point. We were in the throws of getting bumped from one A/C to another for one reason or another (for me, not of my choosing during the 2001-2003 time frame) and WERE NOT IN AN A/C LONG ENOUGH TO GET RECURRENT TRAINING. WE WERE IN FULL UP INITIAL/TRANSITION COURSES. I personally was in 4 different seats in a period of 2 years. I would have LOVED to have gone through recurrent instead of full courses. FWIW, I feel the same way as you do about the current training. It sure was nice to actually train and learn vs "head on a chopping block" the whole time. The evaluation portion is quite reasonable as well. Dare I say the easiest checkride I've ever had.

Please don't take my non-response as a non-response, but I'm not responding. :D

No, not really.

You compare CVG and DTW? really?

Not really, just making the point that DTW had the nicest of the former NWA pilot lounges. I do still think the DTW pilot facilities are pretty good and are definitely better than LAX and MSP. Doesn't mean I want to go there or spend any time in ANY of the lounges either.

Ok you'all, finished my 3 day ER conversion class 2 weeks ago. How long can I expect to wait for TOE? I am way too lazy to call the OE planning desk-that takes effort.

Six of us just finished initial on the 7ER on Sunday and return to ATL for WWO at the end of April. We were all told and including the CA's, OE and TOE are running 6-8 weeks to start, but anything could happen. Hope that helps.

suspends service to Cairo, Amman
April 5, 2011

Delta is indefinitely suspending two international routes amid weak customer demand and high fuel costs, as part of its previously announced 4% reduction in transatlantic capacity.
Service between New York-JFK and Amman, Jordan will be suspended effective June 1. Delta has canceled plans to resume service between New York-JFK and Cairo, which was suspended in February. Both flights were launched in June 2008.
Delta will continue to offer service between the U.S. and Amman and Cairo via Paris and Amsterdam on flights operated by joint venture partner Air France-KLM.
The service suspension is an attempt to combat rising fuel costs. Current oil prices will increase Delta’s fuel costs by $3 billion, or 35%, this year over last year.

Wha? Oil prices matter? I thought that was nothing more than a scare tactic.

AMM going away is sad, I did the inaugural flight right off TOE.

Too bad - I tried to get AMM for two years, never able to hold it. In the end, this is basically capacity reduction - we still "serve" AMM and CAI through AMS or CDG, so theoretically, flights to those hubs would have a few more pax than they would of without the cancellations.
