Prior to the merger this was not possible to do because the longest trips were 6 days with 5 days of max carry in credit.
Now with 12 day long trips guys can carry in a full month of credit AND get paid 2 weeks of vacation. They are flying a full month and getting paid their vacation at the same time. If you sold your vacation back, at the end of the year your credit paid would be approximately the same as this. Not everybody can do this carry in + vacation pay thing. You must be senion enough to bid vacations in the second half of a bid period and have long trips in your catagory. I'm not for or against this and it is legal under our contract. This is just an unforseen result of the merger. |

They have always been around depending on what category you are in. I really miss the Capetown layover which was perhaps the best layover in the entire system. Sadly you had to layover twice in Dakar to get one CPT layover. |

They process move ups on the 5th (bids close on the 1st). I have been told as well that moving your primary trumps someone moving their secondary (or lower).
From page 7-4: b. Vacation move-ups will be awarded in seniority order with the following priority: 1) Pilots requesting to change a primary vacation. 2) Pilots requesting to change a secondary vacation. 3) Pilots requesting to change a tertiary vacation. 4) Pilots requesting to change a quaternary vacation. |
They have 14 years to decide now, based on certain things... The 10 year cut off date was modified slightly after the merger-

Vacation Move ups
Piggybacking on Amish Pilot, I have vacation at the end of summer I would like to move up. I've looked at the contract and with my public school edumacation, couldn't quite answer my own question. How do I submit a move up bid and when does it have to be submitted. Do I have to move the entire block (over 2 weeks) or can a portion of it be moved (1 week block)? I would do whatever would make it the most likely to move any or all of it to a earlier time. It starts 28 Aug so it cuts across Aug and Sep. Thanks in advance for any help.

Note one: The Company is not required to recall pilots in numbers greater than it deems necessary in a new-hire or recall class. Note two: If there are more pilots who have bypassed recall that seek to return to duty than the Company has determined is required, such pilots will be returned to duty, in seniority order and prior to any new hire, in conjunction with Company scheduled new hire or recall classes, and c. his employment will be terminated if he does not return to duty within ten years from his date of furlough. |

I did this multiple times this year, you want to get in asap and I'm not sure when they run it but it looks like its monthly once lines are awarded or on the first day of the month. Not sure. Icrew > Bids > Vacation > Move-Up Vacation Bids > Move Entire Primary/Seconday/etc. Vacation > Select which week you're moving Primary/Seconday/etc. > Add Bids > enter your new weeks preferences. If you need to see the weeks go to Icrew > Bids > Vacation > Display VC Start Date Selection Numbers for Moveup/Rebid Vacation |
Got your answer EXAF, Vacation move ups close on the 1st and are posted by the 5th of every month.
