Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I'd be happy to see them here ... just pointing out the similarities with Lindsey Lohan ... the top ten:
(1) Both drink way too much
(2) Both smoke
(3) Both make noise when they really should be quiet
(4) Both have limited range due to legal restrictions
(5) Neither does math very quickly
(6) Both are unpredictable when you take them out in public & neither follows commands well
(7) Both get droopy when not powered up
(8) Both leak inappropriately
(9) Both show up in sequels
(10) Both started out cute, but got stretched

I dare say, this has to be the longest thread of any forum that I've ever been in.... that not withstanding, I wonder if anyone still subscribed to this thread can find out for me if DAL will re-interview an applicant who was rejected at the final portion (panel) interview? I had heard that you could fail the computer tests or the knowledge test and be re-invited, but not the personnel portion... still true?
It depends on many factors - the most important being is "What result does management desire at that particular moment?" Once management decides what it would like the end result to be, just fine tune the inputs, duration, assumptions etc, and wala! They have numbers to back them up - magic!
Even if management actually wanted an unbiased answer, it would still driven by subjective assumptions. For example - what will fuel cost next month, next year, or over the life of the aircraft? What is the duration you are looking at etc.

Wow FTB, I agree completely with every word of your post...including the used cars - having been a used car dealer, I can tell you they are money generators.
I think also, the next step for DAL Mgmt is to announce the purchase of every 717 produced for cheap. Gotta work out something with those rolls royce guys, I've got a few connections there, but noone's asking me. Power by the hour worked for the harrier guys.

It's clear to me that RA has decided that paying down debt really is his main goal. To that end, we will be flying really old airplanes for quite a long time. Our 777's and A330's are going to be the newest we see for a while. Hope the gamble works out for us, because this is now our course.

I'd be happy to see them here, in fact, I'd hit it ... just pointing out the similarities with another nutball project born in 1986, Lindsey Lohan.

Hoping to get anything used on the cheap is our future here at Delta. Bar was absolutely correct in his analysis. New Boeings or Airbuses are out of the question now in any meaningful quantity. That decision is done.

They have to practice the hand shaking and walking out to the planes as well. You didn't see the video the BA pilot saluting with his left hand while two others next to him saluted with their right? Kind of funny.

This exact same discussion went around in the late nineties when pilots were saying we were locked out of the market because Boeing and Airbus were sold out. Next thing you know we were getting all kinds of different aircraft brand new. We will get what we want when we want. When it comes to aircraft purchase Delta is a 800 lb gorilla. Airbus, Boeing and others are making huge efforts as we speak to be the choice of Delta in its recent request for bids for deliveries starting in 2013. They are not sitting home saying were sold out can't help you!
