I am surprised to see no one has mentioned that the AT/SWA proposal brings AT 717 drivers up to SWA 737 pay. More ammo that our MD-88 should bring in at least SWA 737 $$$.

Hey FTB,
For the folks that you run into, who do not want to use FDX as a peer airline because of night flying :

1) tell them to ask Buzz about his MCO redeyes, etc.

2) FDX is a 24/7 operation with significant daytime ops......whether by default on ocean crossings, or all daytime domestic.

3) Somewhere around 50% seniority in seat will enable you to fly all days, if you choose. It will cost you 1-2 days more per month.....14-15 day flights vs. 12 night flights in an average month.

4) My last 5 years there I exclusively flew days....and I never rose above #20 in my seat.

5) FDX definitely needs to be a frontrunner in our contract goals. The DAL operation is much more similar to FDX than SWA...IMHO :D

BG,

VERY TRUE! I guarantee you I fly at night more than most FedEx guys. LAX-MCO, LAX-DTW, LAX-MIA, LAX-BDL, all red eyes. I'm at the 10 year point seniority-wise but even the senior guys in LA can't avoid them. We certainly look at FedEx as a peer.

And add one more facet to this. Regardless of what the company or DALPA says, we do compare to them on the revenue side.

Nearly $1 billion, that is $1,000,000,000, in baggage fees alone last year were booked. Couple that with the under the floor cargo initiative and the revenue from that and you start to get the picture.

There is a reason we have payload optimization now.

Everything that goes through a cargo door has a receipt accounting for it somewhere.

Something for everybody I guess, but my 1.5 hr butt likes to be productive, which means no 3 hour sits or 32 hr layovers in the usual maddog garden spots.

Amen brother Jughead.

Its interesting the way you say "the company or DALPA".
Just goes to subtly (subconsciously?) show the trust most pilots have for our current union administrators.

Nope, some LEC members apparently think we don't deserve that, or just can't make it happen. It's too much work for them, to REPRESENT us. Frustrated to say the least! Can't wait for the survey, followed by the opener.

Don't bring that up to some LEC members, they will shake their heads and say "we just can't use that, it is being used to pay off debt, and we should be compared to USAir and American, not SWA and Fedex." Next they will ask "what would the other employees think?" Frustrated to say the least! Where is that survey? 15% my arse!

If we merge, say with AS or HI,

I don't believe JB is in the works. At least from the eye test, I just don't see how that does anything worthwhile compared to AS or Hawaii. East coast you can own if you want to, west coast we have nothing even after the last merger.

But I want snap backs preloaded. If mainline plus AS, for example, ASMs or fleet count or headcount drops then DCI 76 and 70 seats are slashed all the way down to 0.

No more merge, shrink, merge...

And big payraise. Thinking 45% on hourly rates.
