Nope - capital leases are treated just like purchases, and the majority of aircraft leases are capital, not operating.

Do you have to use a CD to do quarterly CQ or can you download it?

I downloaded it from the flight ops page under the Quarterly CQ button and it worked fine. I've got a netbook with no CD drive, so I didn't have much choice.

I put it on a thumbdrive and the total size unzipped was about 230MB. Sorta felt like I was getting paid appropriately for it, as I did it on a DH last week :D

Do you guys and gals honestly think the current scope will hold strong?! I have read time and time again on this board how scope should be the strongest part of the new contract! But lets all be honest and admit that most 50+ year olds don't have anything to do with internet message boards; let alone any of these forums! I know the bottom 30% believes in this philosophy, but how about the 70% that may be willing to allow the 50 seater to be replaced by a 70+ seat RJ in order to get a large pay raise? I hope for everyone involved you guys can hold strong! I would love to have the opportunity to be a real "Delta" pilot!

Although scope should not be for sale and in fact significant scope recapture at all levels should be on our non negotiable will strike like a cobra if necessary list, I'll indulge that notion for a moment.

Even if someone is that stupid, if would be easy to educate them by pointing out SWA pay with and because of their scope. If management wants to "give us a huge raise" for more 70 seaters, they first have to bring all our narrowbodies to SWA rates, widebodies buffed up proportionately, then add in at least some additional significant additional percentage to account for the massive additional per pilot revenue we produce, and THEN AND ONLY THEN can they even attempt to tack on their ridiculous bribe for scope relief on top of that.

That would put the widebodies at around 400+/hr or so, with pretty much every FO close to 200K a year. Thats in addition to significant work rule improvements and massive, earth shattering reserve and vacation improvements.

Oh and Dear Negotiating Committee.....5% per year is not a raise at all. It is barely treading water in a good year and most years with real inclusive inflation like we are experiencing, it is a pay cut. Therefore, that amount will BE BACKED OUT of any and all claims of "XX% raise" because we are not sound byte stoopid enough to fall for that (anymore).

5% per year for 5 years IS NOT A 25% RAISE, IT IS A NET PAY CUT.

Asset depreciation will, but companies don't/can't change that annually to "hide" profits when times are good, and then back off when they're not. The SEC really frowns on that sort of thing. ;)

I agree however, I thought that I had heard some in congress are looking to allow accelerated depreciation in order to help spur the economy. I could be wrong and we all know how much congress actually gets done. But this is something that we need to be mindful of in negotiating increased profit sharing.

Scope should start by making everyone a delta pilot. That means Comair and Delta Elite or anything owned by Delta that does brand flying. No need to have barriers between your own company.

Followed by recapturing flying aka west coast by immediate termination of Alaska code share and code shares previously mentioned in the thread that Delta pilots should be doing.

I can promise you that any scope giveback will be quickly and harshly dealt with before it can be brought to vote.

A quick look at the contract comparison that was distributed recently illustrates that point sharply. The airline with the worst scope (usair) has the lowest pay of anyone. The airlines with the best scope (fedex, ups, southwest) have the highest pay.

While some may be too ignorant to see that... I'm at least educating all captains that I fly with that the FO's in those fast taxiing clown cars make as much or more than them.

I'd say UPS does win but FedEX has an unlimited amount of feeder aircraft allowed. The Mountain Air Cargo types have no cap unless I'm reading challenged today. LUV has no regional planes but they are selling flights to Mexico by using Volaris via some kind of "connecting" arrangement. I don't know the details but I assume SWAPA signed off on this?
