Then make a milkshake...

I'm hungry
Quote: I know what my triggering metric is for answering the phone, and it is only for known callers. All others go to voicemail. And my voicemail is notorious for deleting voicemails.

Im the same way but they'll keep calling
Quote: WOW! Sounds like someone is a little sensitive. I hardly think a call from the Chief Pilot's office inquiring about a sick call could be considered "pressuring". If you're really sick, you have nothing to worry about.
Sure! And if you're not a witch, you'll sink like a stone to the bottom of the lake... Nothing to worry about!

Apparently though, being sick isn't the issue. It's occurrences and other metrics that's driving the program. Which begs the question-- If you are sick and use your sick leave, will you be looked upon by your employer as a problem that warrants more attention? And will that cause you to think twice before making the decision that you aren't fit to fly?

The FAA thinks it will. But if you don't mind flying with a sick co pilot or captain for a few days, then just roll over and let the company have their way with YOUR decision not to fly.
Quote: Alaska hiring news: Interviews to begin as soon as next month. Estimated hiring numbers upped from 200 to 370 through 2014. Next bid due out Friday, bigger then expected, with a chance for newhire position vacancies. A suggestion of 787's for Asia was enthusiastically received, but not in the tea leaves for the next several years.

Wow, the nation's fastest growing major airline is doing great! I'm glad we could help them out by filling in their thin routes with DAL pax. If the numbers above prove true, the Alaska guys hired this fall will be 20% up the list by 2014!

That's going to be painful if we merge and the SLI goes anywhere near relative.

Am I jealous? Oh maybe a little. And I know, DALPA, "we could always quit and go to work there." Let's tighten up the codeshares and scope in CY12! Just a friendly weekly reminder from your neighborhood FlyZ.

For those who don't notice what's wrong:

Quote: I agree with that. I have little kids, and we all get germs from flying. We all get that sort of crud. I almost blew an ear drum a few years ago, so it is something that I do not mess with. If I am congested, I will not fly.

I generally do not answer my phone for anyone unless I am on SC either.
Dont say that because I did and the response I got was, "oh so you're saying we should treat you as a special pilot" I then got off the phone.
Seattle to LA? Only 9 flights a day? Who would even want that route. That's practically an EAS route.

Nice,
Now go on www.alaskaair.com and try the same exercise... All the non-Alaska flying gets sent to AAmerican/Eagle...Not one connection goes through SLC...

Alaska get 5% of their revenue from the Delta codeshare, in turn Delta gets 1%.

Cheers

I got a call and asked my CP if he thought it was OK to take a horn of NyQuil on an 9 hour layover so I could actually sleep, followed by a dose of Excedrin to wake me up from the NyQuil haze the next morning, then a few Tylenol Cold to get through a 14 hour duty day. He was actually cool about the call and I could tell he was doing what his boss was making him do and didn't really like making calls to guys who had called in sick.

The metric that triggered my "visit" was the last two calls I've had were within an 8 week time period and were both for 5 day trips so I've used up close to 60 hours already in two months. My recomendation was to do away with 5-day domestic trips. (I'm junior and I don't bid for them, I just get the really crappy ones that are left over). I guess if we call in OK after a few days we can then WS during original days that the trip operated and that will reduce the sick hours we used. I've just always stayed out for the whole trip when I call in.

Do you think we have "codeshare" hiring at AK? Maybe if i quit now, I can catch on the hiring wave over there, and when we merge, I can finally be a lineholder in LAX or SEA before i turn 40!
