Quote: I agree with that. I have little kids, and we all get germs from flying. We all get that sort of crud. I almost blew an ear drum a few years ago, so it is something that I do not mess with. If I am congested, I will not fly.

I generally do not answer my phone for anyone unless I am on SC either.
The phone goes to voicemail nearly always for me unless I'm expecting a GS or and feeling spunky on SC. (I generally won't even answer on SC).
Quote: My opinion is that it should be a priority. I understand that solving the F9 issue does not solve the scope/rj issue at large, but it does remove the lowest common denominator going into your section 6 this round and in future contracts as well.

Yes, Virgin America and Spirit also represent pilot groups who are willing to work for less than everyone else in order to grow their companies, but neither one of them operates FFD contracts at a profit in order to subsidize ticket prices at their "mainline" operations which undercut the legacy carriers.

If F9 isn't gone soon you cannot argue that their rates, work rules, and 401k/sick/vacation concessions will not be used to bargain against DAL and every other pilot group in future contracts. They have already demonstrated their willingness be the lowest common denominator on those combined fronts for many years to come.

Trust me, we want RAH gone probably as much as you do. It's insane that we are paying a company to do our core competency so much that they've gone out and bought another airline with the intent to grow it.

ALPA won't do anything about it. I told someone at DALPA I'd go DPA depending on how they handeled the Frontier situation and a few weeks ago had enough and sent my card in.
Quote: Alaska hiring news: Interviews to begin as soon as next month. Estimated hiring numbers upped from 200 to 370 through 2014. Next bid due out Friday, bigger then expected, with a chance for newhire position vacancies. A suggestion of 787's for Asia was enthusiastically received, but not in the tea leaves for the next several years.

Wow, the nation's fastest growing major airline is doing great! I'm glad we could help them out by filling in their thin routes with DAL pax. If the numbers above prove true, the Alaska guys hired this fall will be 20% up the list by 2014!

That's going to be painful if we merge and the SLI goes anywhere near relative.

Am I jealous? Oh maybe a little. And I know, DALPA, "we could always quit and go to work there." Let's tighten up the codeshares and scope in CY12! Just a friendly weekly reminder from your neighborhood FlyZ.
I hear you Bro! THis is my worry..

Quote: Heyas,

If the CP calls about a sick call, and asks "is there is anything we can do to help?", here are some polite suggestions:

1) Mow your lawn

2) Clean out your gutters

3) Fix the leak in your girlfriend's roof

4) Change the oil in your car, rotate the tires and replace the wiper blades

5) Pick up your dry cleaning

6) Run by the grocery store

7) Run by the creepy drugstore/pharmacy, where all of the thugs, weirdos and neer-do-wells seem to congregate, and pick up your anti-diarrheal and anti-nausia meds.

When I'm sick, I don't want to do any of these things, and having someone from the CP's office to come down and take care of them would be a big help.

Nu
8) Come and babysit my kids while I am sick

9) Stop calling me
Quote: This was the look on my face when I saw that the flight plan was called "HOWGOZIT:"

I had that look when someone came to talk in our new hire class and said "so say you go out on your rotation..." and I stopped listening, what's a rotation? Is that what they call a turn?

Took a while and I finally figured out rotation meant any trip, so a 3-day trip was now a 3-day rotation. I snickered, really? Rotation?

But I only use that term with scheduling because telling my wife I got a 4 day rotation sounds as dorky as saying "Roger wilco" to her.

Merging with Alaska makes ZERO sense. From a management standpoint we get everything we need without the hassles of merging. Plus, Alaska comes with a large price tag.

Why buy the cow, when you get the milk for free?
Quote: Used the "Known Crewmember" lane today at ORD. Worked well.
I'm glad they started a new program to pick up where CrewPASS ended.

Maybe rotation and turn are not the same term.

Perhaps day and tire are the same term? Getting a four day rotation means your car won't wobble anymore.
Quote: Same reason they pulled the Delta stock price off. Spin control.

Carl
You do know that the stock price still exists on the other pages of Deltanet, don't you? Go take a look at the IFS or ACS pages. They just accidentally broke the link on the Flt Ops page. Instead of putting it back at the top, they just put it down on the right side under "Yahoo Finance."

But I guess hyperbole is mo' better. Based on your theory, the company must think we are too stupid to find the stock price anywhere else.

Edit: just logged on to the Flt Ops page on Deltanet. Lo and Behold! The stock price is back at the top!

Next conspiracy?.............

Because someone else is trying to buy the cow and cut off your milk supply.
