That's my feel talking to pilots. You can try to talk about SWA and Fedex but some don't care. "I don't want to fly all night!" um, even on the 88 I seem to be landing at 1-3am lately.

"I don't want to fly SWA trips. It's too much. I come here, I want 1-2 legs a day, I want long overnights so I can drink some beer. I mean those guys do like 20 hour 3 days! That's stupid."

I'll keep fighting but 55% at a min if they promise 15% raise, that's my sad bet.
I think you are wrong. I hope you are wrong. I will say if you are right expectations will have been managed and my SWA buddies will just have to keep laughing at my pay. Notice how no one ever said much about the contract comparison? Carefully crafted to provide no real data and definitely not show we have significant disadvantages in compensation across the board.

The two usual suspects (AS and HI) are what the rumors are circulating around.
Yah, and we can party like it's 1959....

Depending on what happens with the JB ALPA campaign, it could go either way IMO.

Tell that to the SWA/Trannies who are debating the fairness of their SLI.

"at the company's request"? Not exactly. The merger committee is up and running because we're still in an economic environment that I believe requires consolidation. It's better to be prepared to react to that environment should threats or opportunities present themselves. Remember, the merger committee is about SLI, not contracts.

I don't agree. With the Airtran guys getting a windfall with SWA, I would venture less than 25% would vote for just a 15% raise. Most pilots I have talked to in the lounges seem to gasp when I mention the 15% rumor. I can see 15-20% the FIRST year maybe working, but then add at least 5% a year after that for 3 more years, plus improvements in many other areas as being a starting point. There are other ways to get money into my pocket (higher DC contribution, lower or NO insurance premiums, etc), that could help. But, 15% over 3 years just isn't going to do it, and they will read that in the survey unanimously. Of course ALPA said more than 50% voted for Age 65, right? There is no way that could have happened, with every RJ pilot, every mainline FO, and half the Captains voting NO for age 65. It still happened, probably because the LECs and MEC thought they knew better, along with Pratter. So, maybe they will just tell the negotiators 15% is what we should go for, just because, they KNOW better than we do.

Clearly any company that isn't of equal size to Delta should just be stapled. That would be the easiest, fairest way, in consideration of what Delta brings to the table (contract and jets)...

Hey FTB,
For the folks that you run into, who do not want to use FDX as a peer airline because of night flying :

1) tell them to ask Buzz about his MCO redeyes, etc.

2) FDX is a 24/7 operation with significant daytime ops......whether by default on ocean crossings, or all daytime domestic.

3) Somewhere around 50% seniority in seat will enable you to fly all days, if you choose. It will cost you 1-2 days more per month.....14-15 day flights vs. 12 night flights in an average month.

4) My last 5 years there I exclusively flew days....and I never rose above #20 in my seat.

5) FDX definitely needs to be a frontrunner in our contract goals. The DAL operation is much more similar to FDX than SWA...IMHO

Regards,
BG

All I can say is, "NO WAY!" and "Seriously???"

Are there really Delta pilots willing to taxi past those green and white airplanes in Atlanta and accept less than what they will be getting?

Also, who is flying 1-2 legs a day with long overnights and drinking beer on the -88??
