But we should prioritize making appropriate changes in C12K that reigns in the abuse. Some of their flying we can clearly be doing ourselves. I wonder if we have to "meet and confer" with AK if we tighten up that code share too?
Spot on!

"Some of their flying we can clearly be doing ourselves. The code share we allowed provides too much leeway and its time to reign it in"

And, in fact WE WERE DOING prior to the code share! That's what troubles me the most. I can see where the code share, overall, is a good thing for the company. BUT, we have definitely outsourced some of our west coast 73 flying and routes to AK.

Parochial on my part? Sure. As I slide down the seniority ladder and see Jerry Garcia tails flying in and out of the places we used to fly frequently, it sucks. We COULD be doing that flying and we SHOULD be doing that flying. Let's get it back!

Is there any way to pick up out-of-base open time for Sep? I just looked at another base and saw 7 trips for 29 Sep that are all better than what I have, and would love to somehow swap...

Just read the PWA and the TWG papers on PCS, Open Time, and swaps... I THINK the answer is "NO", can only white-slip out of base for same-day or next-day. But thought I'd check here if there was a way to pilot-swap-board it or something?
Thx

That's what I've been doing. Works great. Just advise the scheduler and its cool.

I'm not sure I was here when the hard sell came from ALPA on "Trust us, RJs will be good for Delta and thus they will be good for you." But, I bet it read A LOT like this codeshare analysis piece.

Hopefully everyone noticed how much farther this thing could go before coming anywhere near the allowed PWA limits. I remember seeing 5-30% seats where the contract allows 50%. We had better hope they don't get widebodies.
The most telling point of the whole Alaska piece was when they talk about the fierce loyalty Alaska high Value customers have for Alaska. Delta high value customers show no such loyalty - I wonder why?

We suck. That's why they outsource.

We're the pilots of an airline that flies passengers but evidently in our core competency we pilots suck at what we do and they want someone else to do it whether it's having a near same size fleet of regionals on the low end, Alaska in middle or AF/KLM heavies on the top.

We're not very good. That's why we should temper our expectations and go with the flow on scope and be constructive engagers who are quiet team players who know their place is at the bottom of the totem poll.

We're simply a liability asset required by law.

You know who is really good at being airline pilots? FedEx and Southwest pilots. That's why they get so much money. But we're not in their league, that's why we're not comparable.

All good points FTB;

We do suck. We suck so bad and we know it, thats why the union puts out the AK codeshare agreement paper, patting us on the head. "You're a good boy Delta pilot, you can't run fast, you're spastic, and you wear coke bottle glasses, but you are cute -- C'mere let me pat you on the head.

Kudos to the DAL pilots for accepting reality. Kudos will pay the bills. Remain calm all is well.

Looks like the current negotiating committee stayed intact. I want to thank my reps for listening to those they represent.
