forgive my redneck way of understanding the legal talk! I understand that negotiations can start 270 days prior to the ammendable date on the current contract and there is really no hard date on when there has to be an agreement between both parties. Is this correct? It has been several years since I was at a 121 carrier but I seem to remember that there were some airlines out there that were in negotiations even after their contract had matured.

Thanks

You are correct.
The American pilots are still working under their 2003 contract which became amendable on May 1, 2008.
They've been negotiating ever since. With no end in sight.

That's why they called in ALPA to help.

Whether ALPA's team will be any help is an open question but they sure can't do much worse.

Haven't gotten to the actual survey yet because I'm still shaking my head over this part of the email:

Note: Questions 28 and 29 concern pay rate increases and ask you to enter a number. You should answer each question with a two-digit number, e.g. express 5% as 05, 12% as 12, etc.

Don't you just love DALPA's template? The fact that they even talk about how to express a single digit pay rate increase is ridiculous enough. But what example do they use for a two digit pay rate increase?...12%! Not 50%, not 80%? What about how to input a three digit desire?

If you don't think DALPA has already decided what they hope we'll demand, you're kidding yourself. DALPA is in full expectations management mode to ensure they can show that their minimalistic desires are really what the pilots wanted too.

Since I'm only given a two digit option for pay increases, I'm stuck with inserting 99%. I guess if enough of us do that, then we can be assured DALPA will never release any portion of the survey...much less the opener. Pathetic.

I agree with you completely on this.

So do I add the TTL Credit and my pay time of 9:45 for training to figure out how many hours I will be paid?
Or is there a line on the Time card that will tell me the amount of time I should expect on my check?

Here we go again. Question 12 (emphasis mine):

Using the Delta Pilots Contract Comparison as a reference, how would you rate the PWA overall as compared to the other listed carriers?

Don't give us your thoughts based on your experience, give us your thoughts based on our BS contract comparison that lied about SWA's contract and didn't even include our foreign direct competitors that pay much more.

DALPA is so predictable, it's shocking.

Yes, you take your total credit, whether it is the adjusted reserve guarantee or from trips flown for the month if it's over that guarantee, and add the 9:45 for training.

Hey, a little tofu with a drizzle of aged balsamic and extra virgin olive oil pairs well with a crisp Pinot Grigio with fruity undertones.
